The Whistler Pro 78 is a detector manufactured by Whistler, which began production in 2007. It is considered Whistlers first step into the world of higher end detectors while still carrying a budget price tag. It carries a price tag between $130 USD and $220 USD (MSRP).

Notable Features:
Blue LED display
Dual top mounted blue LED alert "Periscopes" that blink on detection
Selectable Bands, POP, Alert tones, Filter modes, SWS

Performance:
Although the Pro 78 did not score even half of the range of the Valentine One, Escort, or Beltronics detectors, it did score 3/3 in the Instant On test at the Guys Of Lidar August 2007 detector test, showing that alert timing was very important in detection of instant on RADAR Known to be a good bang for the buck radar detector!

Revision C:
In late 2007, Whistler released the Revision C update to Pro 78 platform users. It featured a brand new Local oscillator board that increased Ka and K band sensitivity when POP mode was disabled (Sensitivity was reduced to decrease false alerts from leaky radar detectors). It increased raw sensitivity around 20% on Ka band and 10% on K.

How to check revision:
Unplug detector, plug back in with city button held down. This will reveal the revision of your Pro 78.
