What do you suppose it really costs to manufacture a V1. Not counting R&D, labor etc, just parts alone.

Very good question. Professor Jim would probably have the best guess.

i'd say about....... $100 - 200 for mike to get that wealthy about that...

then he's doubling up... according to the internet their financial rev is $7m each year! but they also make other things so that may account for alot of it...

its hard to say how much because they bulk order led's and everything else.. what i do know is the diodes inside cost abit, not to mension the program chips etc...

The PCB shouldnt be more than $30 - 40 (depends on layers, VIA count, trace widths, etc). I cant really comment on the custom die cast for the horn assembly and case. Those might drive the $$ up. That big diode or assembly probably isnt (relatively speaking) cheap. From the pics I say though all the ICs shouldnt be more than ~$20, that includes uP, power regulator, etc..

cobra electronics.........$138.000.000!! not supprising since their detectors are the same as snoopers all made in korea by bgtech! even snoopers gps stuff is made by them! but lets not forget that cobra made radios etc.... escort have in the past filed many patent lawsuits against cobra in the 1990's! another strange thing is kenwood electronics nearly went bust a few years ago.. they were 30million in debt! but they are slowly getting the rev back up... when i first found out i was pretty shocked to hear of such a well known name nearly go!

valentine research.......$7.700.000

escort inc....................$22.000.000

pni corp.......................$8.600.000 theses make sensors and equipment for the military.

and just for fun..........microsoft........$39,788,000,000
