i've got some extra money and i was thinking of giving the v1 a try soon along with my new jammer...how's the J problem along with the ghosting issues? has any of that been resolved or made better?

No J problem here. I have 3.826. And no ghosting issues either. I highly recommend the V1. Once you get used to the arrows there is no going back.

You can keep the 995 for backup when you send the V1 in for firmware upgrades.

I agree w/ GTO. Get the V1 and keep the Bel for a backup. You will really enjoy the V1. Just take the V1 down in certain situations otherwise it might get stolen (which would make me really mad). Mk

yeah get a real opinion fom rob.

unlike some of the vombies will tell you, the 3.826 still does have the J issue with Ka band. it seems like some do, and some don't, but there's still a chance you can end up with one. i've also never read a report that it costed someone a ticket. at worse if you end up with a unit that does it cycle the power and see what happens. i dont think outrun, ford, and many others as well as myself are just making up that i has a j problem just for the fun of it. i got a brand new v1 also not a refurb unit so you can't point to that they sent me a faulty unit. i've also sent it to them for the 3.825->3.826 updrade and had them test it and they said it was fine. i would be cautious who i listen to around here as you know the vombism can take over common sense....

since have pop off i really havent had any Ka falses, and even with the RD on, in a huge city, i didn't really get any Ka falses. and those few times that i did it quickly disappeared with no J.

In my opinion, if you are using a V1 there are very few occasions where a backup detector is needed. Yes, the V1 is that reliable. I have a spare V1 that I use as a backup ( oh oh ! ) - that I use when I send my V1 in for an upgrade but I have never had to send in a V1 for repairs and that includes my and my wifes V1 going back over 10 yrs.

3.826 has come a long way but still has room for some improvements. You might also want to try out the X50 and/or STI. I am personally getting an STI for my wife. She currently has the V1 3.826 and does not like it. She liked her X50 much better

If you let your wife drive with section (7) enabled I am sure that she will change her mind about the X50/V1 dilemma. I bet she does not even know about this feature?
I saw that STI at a truck stop and it looked impressive with the locking silver case.

my friend, weezer134, recently got an x50 and i'm trying it for the weekend. so far i've put about 200 miles on with it and love it so far. i really would like to try out the v1, especially for the arrows... the funny thing about all of this is i'm not sick of my v995 at all, i just have some money and want to try out some of this other good stuff to see what i like best out of the top detectors :)

3.826 fixed my J-bug problem - I run with POP on. Used to get it once a week or so w/ 3.819

Go for the v1. I originally had the 3.819 and 4 month ago i had it updated to the 3.826. It seemsto me that the k-band range has increased, the bogey lock tone is perfect, and the j-ed feature is fixed.I have only got one ka alert since i got it updated that got j-ed out. But it worked corectly since it was some BMW that caused it.

I personally have owned all the TOP 3 and i prefer the v1 overall especially for the highway....... Plus the laser capabilities picks up for any of the slack the j feature....

The only thing the v1 lacks it a remote mute and better display. But havent you heard not all pretty things mean great performance. for ex. the cobra withe their new multi color lcd screen.
