Oh yeah!
I love the packaging of the unit. No cords to unwrap, twist ties, or tape. It just sits there all snuggled in the protective aluminum case. Sweet. I'm at work right now. I can't wait until lunch....

It should save you lots, I have one. Now I want a V1. The bell is nice but not what I expected. :?

Why do you want a V1 over the other detectors? What kind of driving environment do you live in? City or Highway?

2 hours commute on the tollway once a week. I drive a mustang cobra, the insurance is out of this world as it is. Figured i would run both.

Running both detectors at the same time is not recommended

Wow. It's hard to explain. It just feels awesome. It's loud, but not piercing. You actually get a sense of where the radar is in distance from your position and it gradually increases. Not steps. I love it. I don't have falses anymore.
Granted that was just a little drive around during lunch. I plan on taking it out on the interstate tonight.

As a side note, Ka was set to International by default. I changed it to USA of course.

SET 'Ka' TO INTERNATIONAL!!!!! and keep it set that way

Why is that?

Because USA mode will miss certain frequencies (one being the stalker radar gun that is VERY popular). There is a reason why it is set to international by default

What kind of performance declines would you experience with it on international instead of USA. I called Beltronics the other day and they said to set it on USA and that by doing so it would perform better. I also read the "real world" radar test by veil guy and Craig Peterson recommended that he set it on USA. So, my question is: Why should I set it on International?
Thanks guys

Because performance is a moot point if you are missing one of the key parts of the Ka band. Leaving it on USA opens you up to completely missing an alert from a Stalker-equipped officer. That would suck.
No idea why Bel did it this way in the first place.

As I understand it, people have been advised by BEL that when the RX-65 is in the "USA" setting, it only scans for 3 frequencies in the Ka band: 33.8, 34.7, and 35.5 GHz which are the most common Ka freqs in the USA (BEE, Stalker, Genesis II). This is supposably the same as BEL's former "Accusweep" feature. And that when in the "INTL" setting, it supposably sweeps the whole 33.4-36 GHz Ka range just like other detectors -normally- do.
Most of the US users have been setting it to "INTL" as there has been some speculation that without the full sweep, it could completely miss some versions of the Stalker on different freqs. There is possibly a Stalker ATR/DSR gun out there at 34.94 GHz, and possibly a Stalker ATR "frequency hopper" that can be anywhere in between 34.2 - 35.2 GHz. I believe that the introduction of this gun was the main reason for "Wide" (34.2-35.2) Ka, before there was "SuperWide" Ka (33.4-36). I personally don't have any info on how common or widespread these guns are. I also wonder why other detectors don't have modes to just sweep these three freqs?
If used in the "USA" mode, you could have better response/sensitivity on the frequencies that it sweeps, with the tradeoff of possibly missing these Stalker guns.
The international users actually need a -narrower- sweep for better warning on photo radar. However, the "Intl" setting in the RX-65 wouldn't be good for international users wanting more performance on photo radar, because it sweeps the whole range instead of a "narrow" mode. And with the narrower sweep in the "USA" mode, they would completely miss the photo radar freqs.
On the other hand, in some of BEL's international detectors such as the BEL 990 International , the "Accusweep" or "Narrow" feature sweeps these three frequencies: 33.8, 34.3, 34.6 GHz. The difference is no Stalker, but it adds the 34.3 GHz freq for Multanova and TMT-6F photo radar.

I looked at Stalker's website and all their guns, except the Stalker II and the Stalker Basic, had a range of "33.3GHz-36GHz"... so this means its selectable/changable? Also, does anybody know how much longer it takes to sweep the entire Ka band instead of using USA?
Thanks for all the info, yall are awesome

That I don't know. The vast majority that people encounter are on 34.7 GHz. In the manual, they use 34.7 as an example, and don't mention anywhere that it can be changed. But it might be possible that they can be ordered with different freqs...

Hard to say, but I can tell you that the difference is in milliseconds. Many pre-pop detectors swept ALL bands in 300ms or less. It is likely that with POP, they now sweep even faster. Cut that down to just a few frequencies, and it would be faster yet. But in all cases, you would receive a warning in much less than a second...
