i know its unlikely that we will see it, but i wa reading somewhere that they had a prototype coming along??????//

I doubt it, really it would be a step backwards. The antenna would be almost as big as the old X-Band stuff. Also, there isn't generally a lot of interest in defeating detector users, they can already do that with instant-on.
I think if we ever do see it, it will be used for photo radar, just like it is in other countries.
