Me and one of the IRCM guys were crusin down the interstate and ran into this kind of weird. Keep in mind it was a Cobra he had voice alert on and it said Ku alert!!!
We kept heading down the interstate and there it was again Ku alert.
Then all of a sudden a strong signal Ku alert.
As we passed a parked unmarked interceptor.
I know it sound weird and technically (not possible) but what do you think was it a crapra issue and doing a false alert or was it real?

I checked with the FCC and Ku band is in fact allocated for the USA.
So technically they could use it!!

We've had this discussion several times.... Cobras love to false Ku on Ka... There are currently no guns manufactured for the US that use Ku, and there are technical illogicalness of why law enforcements would want a step backwards in terms of technical merit.

Lots of signals use Ku that set your detector off such as satelite dishes for one.

I didn’t think so either but i wasn’t sure it was realy convincing and weird!!
I had a cobra that when you get real close to Ka laser would alert!

When I read the title I was thinking "nooooo!" because my detector doesn't do Ku band. Now it seems that it was just a detector issue.

You don't really need to have Ku Band on, since it isn't used here. I'm not sure which Cobra you have, but I put a video in the Cobra section not too long ago which has a guy demonstrating the Cobra programming mode.

I'm one of the few guys here who doesn't Cobra-bash, so feel free to ask anything.

To follow on what jdong stated – I have a Cobra 9400 that I use in the lab and noticed that when I hit it with a very calibrated X band signal that about half the time it will declare it as K band and when I hit it with a K band gun that most of the time it will declare it as a Ka band signal. For some reason it appears to be one band off. It also appears to randomly trigger a Cobra SA (Safety Alert) signal once in awhile – drives me nuts. The only thing I like about the 9400 is that it will very reliably declare a VG-2. Of course it lights up a Spectre III like a Christmas tree which is also why I like it.

Nope.... no active KU in the USA. :D
I think Laser will be the ultimate preferred choice for Speed enforce.

PLEASE stop with the KU BS!

I heard KU POP is coming, too! Me and a friend were driving with our Cobras, and my Cobra went Ku, and his went POP, so like two heads are better than one, so it's Ku POP!
