I have been using my bel980 for about 1.5 years since i got it off ebay (used). It worked perfectly before... About a week ago i started noticing that it had problems.
During hot weather, or when the sun is shining brightly it begins to act up. I turn it on and it is mounted on my windshield, it works for the first 10 minutes while i am on the highway, then i begins to heat up from the sun. Then suddenly I get KA band (strength 9!), and it keeps going. Last time that kept going for 20 minutes straight. Hell, it does not even false at my local grocery store. I tried to turn it off, then on again, and again two minutes later, same stuff, but now with strength 9 K band.
I tried to put the bastard in my fridge and cooled it off after it got hot on my drive home from the sun. I put it back in my car, and it worked perfectly while it was cool... No false ka, k . nothing, and it started to false at grocery stores.
I dont even know what to do.
I am thinking of cutting out a cardboard, and putting it on top of my detector so that it would have some shade from the sun. Sounds rednecky(i know). I dont think it would affect radar, not laser alerts (am i right?)
Any other suggestions to battle this, guys?
