Well, I bought a Bel Vector about one year ago and I stated then that I would return to this forum and report it's results. Overall, I'd say this is the perfect entry level detector. I love it. And, I put it thru the ringer every day. I travel 65 miles to work each day and traverse thru 3 Texas Counties in the process. I see Texas DPS, City, County and Constable LEO's every day. I took my camera with me on a few of my trips to work just for kicks. Here is a compilation of just a few of the saves that I'd had with the Bel Vector 940.

This was an encounter I had in the fog with a Brenham, Texas PD.

I got a whiff of him long before I saw him. I wouldn't consider this a save but the 940 did a really good job of picking him out in the fog.

This image was of a save that also took place in Brenham, Tx. Lots of the city police in Brenham like to hunt head on. They will clock you and then whip around behind you as soon as they can cross over the median.

Below is a pic that I took of a save that occured in Nacogdoches, Tx. I had rounded a corner and increased my speed rather rapidly. About the time I realized that I was speeding I got a whiff of Ka band radar. The unit gave me 2 bars then went silent. When I got up to the Patrol Unit, my 940 lit up like a Christmas tree. This was a clear save for the 940. This city patrol was using the instant on technique.

This image is of a clear save that occured close to my house. This Sheriff's Deputy drives one of the many Trucks employed by our local County. I caught a whiff of his radar about 2 miles away. Then it got stronger. For some reason, most of the Sheriffs in our county leave their radar on.

Here is an image of a DPS officer that I snapped one morning. I play cat and mouse with this particular DPS officer on a daily basis and I've seen him so many times on the side of the road that I feel confident I could pick him out of a lineup

Here is an image of a 2 mile warning that I got one morning. By the time I rolled up on the scene, I had had a good 2 miles of warning. The officer left his radar on while he wrote his ticket.

Here is an image of an early morning radar encounter that I had with a sheriff patrol.

By the way, our PD in Brenham just got new cars. Here is a pic of one the new cars.

Finally, I've told some of you how saturated my route to work is every morning. I drive from Brenham to Houston and back again each day. I even pass a Regional DPS headquarters bldg. on my way home. I have my fair share of Radar enforcement to deal with each and every day. Here are some picks of highway friends.

Anyway, back to the Bel Vector 940. I think it's one hell of a unit. I have no complaints. While it doesn't have the bells and whistles of the more expensive Bel's, it provides adequate protection and won't break the bank. In fact, I knew I made the right decision when I read the Bel 940 Vector report on the Guys of Lidar website.

It is for the above reasons that, in my opinion, this is the perfect starter radar detector. I've put it thru it's paces. It even had a laser save but I didn't have my camera. However, I plan to go back to that spot and try to get the pic. These guys are there on mororcycles with their laser guns all the time.

Anyway, one final word. Don't try this at home. (taking pics while driving) I drive all the time and I have a very special camera for taking these pictures. I can do it with one hand and without taking my eyes off of the road.

Hope everyone enjoys.

Nice write-up and pics.

Notice the two Fords with malfunctioning brake lights (second pic, the Explorer and the Crown Vic).

I've actually recommended the V940 to a friend who just got a citation last week; his first in over 15 years.

Yeah, I really like the pictures of the cop cars with dead brake lights. Such a double standard.
