Bel Vector series of detectors

Does anyone know if the Vector series detectors all have the same internal hardware/software. Do they differ only in features like voice alert or software upgradeable and voltage meter etc. If I just wanted to be alerted to radar would the 955 do the job as well as the 995 for less money.

The bel vector 965 has the same range as the 995. Just features are a little different. Bel 955 i think does not has the same saying on the package AT LEAST 10x MORE SENSITIVE THAN OTHER DETECTORS. GO to circuitcity or bestbuy and you will see this written on BEL VECTOR 965 985 995.

My BEL Vector 995 has basically the same range of the the BEL RX65 since they are the same detector with software differences

Some how i doubt the BEL 965 has the same range of the BEL 995

The 955 according to Bel is 8 times more sensitive where as the 965 and 995 are 10 times. I think the 995 is the way to go. It also has the Ku band should the need arise to have it. The others would have to be sent in to Bel to be upgraded or replaced. Should have my 995 from Roy on Monday.

Thanks, I didn't realize the 965 did not have KU band capability already built in becaue I do not believe they will upgrade your existing unit. I think I would have to sell and buy a unit that has KU.

If your going to spend around $285 for a vector 995 you might as well get a Escort 8500 X50 for $299 at a bestbuy or from Roy. Trust me from owning both a bel vector 965 and a X50. The X50 range is considerbly better. Plus if you call Roy, and tell him your a member of radardetector.net and he will give you a discount on either a bel rx-65 or Escort 8500 X50. Its also a nice feeling to know you own one of the top three.

The 995 only cost $269 through Roy. I don't see for the money difference where the Rx 65 is worth it. The only difference is the features on the detector as has been stated they are the same detector directly from Beltronics. As for the Escort I personally want something that comes with Ku. The Escort is a great detector but I feel its not worth $30 more espically after hearing of the people on this board that have bought the old 8500 thinking it had the ablity for upgrades and finding out it did not. They may not offer a Ku upgrade.

Glockman for the money I would buy the 995 and the extra money you save get some veil and a laser shield. Which would give you a higher level of protection.
