Last night my RX65 power turn on display "service required". what's the possible cause and how to D.I.Y repair. Am from Singapore can't return back to US for repair because radar detector is ban in our country. It's about a year old and would appreciate any inputs.

PS : bought from Roy and email Roy last night no reply...

At least the V1 doesn't give you error messages, you just don't pick up radar anymore like Sethy.

A while back I emailed and asked Roy about the "Service Required" issue here is his response "The RX65, V995 and the 8500 all had problems with overheating. We were seeing about a 5% return rate. Several months ago they said that they fixed the problem. Our return has no dropped to 1% "

Blair estimates Escort sells about 25 percent of the roughly 1.5 million radar detector units purchased annually. The market is down from its peak of 3 million units in the late 1980s.

25% of 1.5 million is 375,000 units sold by Escort.

5% of these 375,000 units had a problem with overheating.

That is only 18,750 units made by Escort that overheated and failed in one year.
