Falses Caused by Other RD's

Hey guys, it's been awhile since I've posted here because my account had been disabled, presumably due to inactivity. Thanks to whomever reenabled it for me!

I drove to Charleston SC from Washington DC this past weekend, the longest drive I've had with my x50 to date (about 6 hours). I've noticed my detector going off a few times with what I believe to be were false alerts. I was unable to locate any LEO during these alerts, and they were usually very brief. Each time I had one of these perceived falses, I was usually near a tractor-trailer whom I assumed was using a RD.

Was wondering if someone could fill-me-in on how other RD's cause falses? Specifically I was wondering if another RD causes a false does it show up as an X or a K or Ka? Do certain brands cause falses whereas others do not? Thanks!

Yes, some brands of RDs can cause certain other brands of detectors to false. Unidens are notorious for this. Most of the time such falsing is on Ka band, but in some cases, especially older detectors, could cause X or K falses as well.

If you search around the site, there's a Cobra model that causes POP alerts on the X50, while the X50 causes VG2 alerts on the Cobra.

I agree with Kpatz. All top 3 RD's RX65, X50 and V1 false alerts to certaing RD's and it gives you X, K and Ka band alerts. It's just something you have to live with and overtime, you'll improve your judgement as to how you will react to those kinds of alert.
