Is it normal to get front laser shifting alerts when following certain color cars? Also sometimes I get receiver error alerts and when I shut unit down and turn it back on they go away! Whats up with this? The unit is installed in a 08 infiniti g37s with laser cruise control. So far, I haven't missed a bogey though! Thanks!

That’s your problem right there.

Thanks CJR, Kinda figured that was the case, Just wondered if any one had any suggestions other than blocking out the eye for the cruise.

lol, sorry. :)

I'm sorry to say the only option is to hope one of the USB updated fix it. I would call Escort. It sounds like you already know the obvious possible fixes.

Can you manually disable the laser cruise control? Or if not is there any mods out there that will allow you to manually turn it off and on?

If you block the eye will the cruise control still work regardless?

Hi bigjohnsf,

Is the receiver error you are getting for the radar antenna or for the shifters?

Not to be a smart ass, but would a laser detector or jammer work if a piece of electrical tape was placed over the receivers lens? (Edit): Sorry, maybe you meant would the cruise still work in a conventional manner w/o the laser. I don't know for sure about imports w/ laser cruise. I do know that Cadillacs that use radar cruise that operates in the 70+GHz range will set a DTC if there is a problem with the radar transceiver and disable the cruise system.

You would think that the cruise control has a fail-safe mode if its laser detectors malfunction or are dead. I guess there is only one way to find out -- simply disconnect the laser emitters.

they must calculate this, snow, ice, mud could block them easily and often.

M-T I don't believe it indicates which one. I will have to check it out but, it seems to just say receiver error! And by the way guys, thanks for your replies!:victory:

Hi bigjohnsf,

Okay...

Check Receiver Wiring means that you need to check the radar antenna's connection to the interface box. Remember, there is also an inline connector around 5 or 6 feet back along the wire from the antenna plus of course the connector which plugs into the interface box.

Receiver Error means that the receiver failed to self calibrate properly. Here are some thoughts:

-- Try resetting the firmware. My 9500ci, once I finally got its antenna properly installed in the grille, displayed a strong and continuous Ka band alert. This happened two times in a row upon power-up. I reset the firmware and that cured the problem. This problem hasn't occurred again. I think that it is some sort of simple firmware bug which has something to do with stuff being disconnected and then later reconnected to the interface module. Thats just a guess.

-- Its possible that somewhat low voltage to the antenna could cause it to not calibrate properly. Again, the inline connector might be the culprit. Get a pack of dielectric grease at an automotive store and put a bit into the female end of the antenna's inline connector described above. Then plug the connector together, wipe off any excess on the outside of the connector, and wrap the connector with electrical tape to further keep out water or moisture.

-- This could be due to the antenna getting too hot. Where is it mounted in the front grille? Do you only get the Receiver Error message on hot days or when mostly idling while stuck in traffic or stopped at intersections? If so, then the antenna may have to be moved a bit further away from the air conditioner's radiator. Most cars have a separate electrical fan which automatically turns on when you turn on your air conditioner. Moving the antenna so that is in front of the half of the AC radiator which is cooled by this fan may help.

Well, are my thoughts at the moment. I am kind of betting on the inline connector as being the cause of the Receiver Error messages. At least that is quick and simple to fix.

:)
