Wanted to know what mode you guys put yours in and why you decided to do so.

I've been using the expert mode recently and it picks up multiple bands at once, but I feel like its really hard to see how far away you are from the radar.

What do you guys think? What is more benificial?

Ill give you a situation and you see for yourself.

You take a route everyday, usual false from the CVS. You have your RD set to standard and can only see that one K band encounter. You know this is the CVS setting it off so you just cruise along over the limit. You will not know there is a cop sitting there running K band as well.

With expert mode you can see multiple bogeys, this does come in handy, in fact it did come in handy twice today.

Cops are not stupid, they know where these falses are and do this on purpose. Leave it on expert mode and stay safe, this is one of the best features that Escort has.

When you're not an old guy, it's also easy to read the expert display. I found that I use the audio to infer distance and the expert meter to determine sources.

I like expert mode the best. With the X50 you can tell from the sound how strong the signal is. Just glance at your display when you drive by your normal falsing spot and make sure you don't see another signal. Example would be if you are driving by some K band doors and you see an extra K band signal than usual. Or if the LEO's still use X band in your area and you see X band in your normal K band door spot. X50's alert priority will overide an X band alert if K or Ka is present and it will overide K alert if Ka is present. Audio alert priority on the X50: 1. KA 2. K 3. X
So if your at your K band false area and the detect picks up KA, it will audio alert KA.

I use the spec mode frequency display. It pointless for k band. But you do see multiple ka alerts.

When using expertmode you can just compare the little bar(if you cant quite see the led's in the bar) to the letter ....whether its K or Ka :D

I really have not used the expert mode that much on my X50 however there have been times where I have used it and I love it as it was tracking more the one radar at the same time. I almost always leave my X50 in highway mode and I hardly ever put it in the city mode as the X50 hardly ever falses.

Today I was following a county policeman and he had constant on K band.
He also had instant on but after a while he just set it to constant.
His frequency was showing 24.160

In this thread you can see Jimbonzz's response towards this question. Whatever is emitting a signal can somtimes get off a tad whether its an officers gun or K band door.

Use it for a while in expert mode. This is the X50's strongest asset. It takes a while to get used to the display specially the signal strength for each source in expert mode. Each source has 5 small dots to make 1 bar at full signall strength reduced by at least 2-3 bars when comparing it with standard mode. Overtime, you'll get use to how the audio alert sounds - it get's steadier as you get closer. I set mine in expert mode all the time the best the X50 can offer.

It took me a couple of weeks to get used to expert mode. along with the different audible alerts i can just glance at the x50 knowing x is displayed on the far right k in the middle and ka to the left ,even though with my bifocals i cant fully read the letters without refocusing I dont need to.

The other day my fiends and i were eating at a Sonic fast food restraunt. Across the road was a bank where a false k-band always alerts. This restraunt is a local hanging out places for teenages so we were there for almost 2 hrs. It was at night i look across the street and see a LEO pull in the bank. He goes to the back side and clocks people. This is a 4 lane road and the speed limit in 45mph. A long staight 10 mile stecth. You dont want to drive 45mph. Anyways the cop within two minutes had his first victim pulled over. 2 Hrs later EIGHT yes i mean EIGHT people had gotten pulled over. When i was pulling out with my x50 as the cop just got back in positon 2 k bands are alerting on my x50. No surprise. He pulls out right before me and pulls another guy over just past a light which i got stopped at. I drive by slowly and see a cheap Cobra unit in the middle of the windshield i just laugh.

Depends I get 24.178 and 24.164 "real radar signals". Sometimes I see radar on 24.150 rarely. Most of the time its a false "24.150" Like banks, etc. I ran across radar on 24.150 once or twice. But I think those were tuned recently or they dont use them that much.

Overtime radar guns drift. I would say any in the 24.17x range and 24.16x
range good chance its radar.
