I'm still trying to hash out the differences between the two, but does it basically just boil down to a difference in databases--i.e., Cheetah's Trinity system versus a user-created file with Trapster?

For people who are familiar with both setups, what are the pros and cons of each?

If I'm to get one of the two gadgets for Christmas, from a pure countermeasures standpoint (I realize the Garmin does things that the Cheetah doesn't) which one should I go for? Why?

Thanks!!!

Honestly I would personally go with a garmin first jusct cause having a GPS is a great tool to have in your vehicle if you drive alot...

But if there are alot of speed cameras and red light cameras in your area and you don't mind keeping a book of maps with you I would go with the C100 from cheetah

My $150 Magellan GPS takes slightly more effort than a "nice" Garmin GPS, but it gets the job done with Trapster. For those with an iPhone, that works great with Trapster all by itself. I think a carputer, which could run live Trapster via wireless broadband, should be my next step, FWIW.

I'd pimp the garmin. If you keep a close eye, especially over at slickdeals.net you should be able to land a 760 for under 300 during this crazy holiday season.

Definitely. I just saw it at Costco Canada for 324 CAD, which is roughly 260 USD. I'll check a US Costco later this week.

I've got a Garmin Nuvi 755t on the way now and I intend to pick up a Cheetah mirror in a month or two.

Allyoops has been a tremendous help behind the scenes, and the only reason I'm getting the GPS sooner is because my inlaws are paying for it and it's more expensive than the Cheetah, plus it's less obviously a tool for the speed demon. They don't mind our astonishing times from Miami to Chicago, but they'd prefer not to think about it if they don't have to...

I have trapster on iphone, and the Cheetah GPS mirror. I use both, but the mirror is far superior for alerting to cameras. From a pure countermeasures standpoint, go with the mirror.

Cheetah mirror is to big looking to me. It reminds me of one of those old granny mirrors that you see.
