It is very detailed so I know we can zoom in and mark a spot
If used properly this could be a great tool to map out speed traps

it did work for me...problem is....we cannot even get 1/8 of the members to vote which RD they have. Think about them posting their results here.
On top of that, US traps are hard to determine, yes we can add where it is but it is forever changing.

I finally got in as well.
Not to mention that there are a lot of people out there who see a cop sitting in a parking lot one night and instantly scream "speed trap!" to everyone in sight. My two concerns with this map are that it either won't have enough support, or people will post speed traps where there are none, and the whole thing becomes useless.
I'd be more worried about the first problem than the second with this group, though.

a speed trap to me is if you have seen a cop on the same spot more then once or twice

Same here. You can watch Outruns (Jasons) vid of the laser trap on the bridge. HELL YEAH that is a speed trap. How often will they do that?
That is where we run into problems with the US.
Look at speedtraps.org or whatever....I can go by an hour, day, week, month later and see absolutly nothing.

Speedtrap.org or whatever is a useful site sometimes, but more often than not it's just people screaming "I WAS GOING 100 MPH IN A 70 ZONE AND THAT LOUSY COP WOULDN'T LET ME OFF WITH A WARNING!"
My definition of a speed trap is any setup by police designed to pull over a large number of motorists within a short period of time. If I see it set up once, it's worth noting for next time I drive through the area. If I see it again a good amount of time later, I know to keep my eyes open because it's liable to reappear. If I see a regular pattern of enforcement in the area, it is a bona fide speed trap, and worthy of notation on this and other websites dedicated to informing motorists of them (including speedtrap.org, which I do use quite often if going on a road trip, as there is some great information on there).
And, for the record, when I know there's a bona fide speed trap in the area, I try to avoid it. I don't exactly have a lead foot, but I do tend to go with traffic, which in the Phoenix area can be anywhere from 5-15 MPH over the speed limit on surface streets (Phoenix PD will generally light you up at 8-10 over, but some departments here are entirely too zealous), and as much as 25 MPH over the speed limit on I-10 through downtown. That makes me exactly the type of driver the police down here love to hand a ticket to, and on more than one occasion, I've been very lucky to not get one. One instance in particular should make you laugh (I apoligize for the broad tangent--if you want to move on to the next post, go for it, my feelings won't be hurt):
I'm driving down a broad, straight desert road at night on my way back to my parents' house. The speed limit is 50, but everyone goes at least 60, so I'm in a line of cars in the left lane going about 62 MPH. I didn't have my X50 at the time (early this past summer), and was running an ancient Radio Shack detector. I see a few cars at the front of the line abruptly get over to the right and brake, and since my radar detector isn't going off and I'm not thinking, I keep motoring on ahead past them. Then, as I pass a white car in the median, I see the flashing lights pull out behind me. Fortunately, there was a car behind me who had been going a touch slower, but the cop was slow on the gas ended up having to pull in behind him, despite his lights having gone on the second I passed. The guy freaks out, swerves into the right lane, and guns it, and seeing as how a ticket for 75-80 MPH and evading an officer is far more lucrative than giving some kid a ticket for going 62 in a 50, the police officer pulled into the right lane and gunned it after him.
I went home and changed my underpants. A few days later, I decided to get a Whistler detector, and then I had another near-miss with photo radar which led to my walking into Best Buy and putting down the Whistler in order to pick up the nearly 5 times as expensive (but soooo worth it) Escort.
We now return you to your regularly scheduled discussion.
