Ok I just got my 695 and did some tests. I used a known x band false and k band false, I don't have foot reading for the x band but I can estimate.

X - band

V1 - 750 ft

955 - 200 ft

695 - 200ft

The 955 and 695 see equal on the x-band for sensativity.

K-band -

V1 - 1900 ft

955 - 350 ft

695 - 170 ft

The 695 was a fairly poor performer on x band, the 955 easily beat it, while the V1 is king.

I have not done any ka band testing because I don't have access to a ka gun. If someone wants to send me one for testing I can do that, and I'll even pay for return shipping. :D Other than that, it is what it is.

i for sure know v1 picks door openers way better than whistler. not a big deal since whistler picks k cops at least a mile + in many of my encounters.

All you proved was that the 695 was better at filtering out X and K band falses.

In that regard, looks like the V1 and 955 are poor performers.

There should not have been any filtering, I was in highway mode with all of them and the filter on the 695 from what I know is used to filter out other detectors, like the junk feature on the valentine, at least that is what the manual says.

Exactly. Whistler's high end RDs have a sneaky built-in filtering algorith which cause them to ignore very weak pairs of K band signals which have very similar frequencies. This filtering algorithm correctly assumes that these weak signals are false alerts from K band door openers as long as their signal strengths are weak and of similar intensity. Its a slick little bit of code which helps to make Whistlers quieter when driving around town, and its why I tend to recommend Whistlers for people who do mostly city driving and who are on a tight budget. As far as I am aware, this filter is active even if a Whistler is in Highway mode, but I could be wrong.

that makes sense, but are you 100% certain it is active all of the time?

:bs2: especially on the "pairs" and "similar intensities"

Pfft. Whatever. I know what scenarios I tested.

the whistler units have decreased sensitivty to door openers. i think i would shoot my radar if it gave a mile detection of door openers, i dont know how you guys with v1's survive in the city lol

even at factory filter the whistler pro 78 and xtr690/695 have amazing filtering considering they are budget detectors

My experience tells me that the XTR695 gives more than adequate warning on K band as well as Ka band. Even in highway mode the filtering is good, there are X band sensors used for traffic that my Bels will alert to that the Pro78 and XTR695 will not alert to.

I have an XTR 695 and I think it is pretty good. LEO routinely set up in left turn lanes so that it appears that they are simply waiting to make a left hand turn but they are actually running C/O Ka. They prefer to set up on long straight streets and road like this, especially at the bottom of long inclines. The 695 picks these up a long ways off. First time this happened it began alerting at at least 1.5 miles out and just a short time ago this evening at 1.2 miles - he was stilling in a left turn lane at the bottom of a long incline. BTW - the 695 picks these up every bit as well as the Escort 9500ix.

The only think that I am experiencing with both of these is lots of POP alerts. To my knowledge no LEO use POP but I am told this can be caused by other RD.

I also get a lot of PULSE when I see no LEO - not sure what is up with that.

The XTR 695 is a nice RD.
