If you have or know of a link on how I can install a separate LED ALERT for my 8500 (for the LED to flash when my RD is activated) can you please post it here...

THANKS!

The simplest solution is to get Escort's coiled SmartCord or the hardwired SmartCord.

sorry for my late reply.

so Escort's SmartCord has an LED that flashes when RD is activated? Oh, OK, I didn't know that...though the SmartCord had the mute button only.

Sweet thanks! I'll look into this.

Yeah, it actually has two leds. One stays on all the time to indicate the unit has power, then the "alert" led only comes on when the detector has a signal.

This is intended for motorcycle use but I don't see why you couldn't use it in a car too:

Sorry can't post links yet I guess.

Home-made, this will work, too:

----

Off on a tangent -

I just finished, two nights ago, my "countermeasures box" for my wifey's new '09 Forester XT.

As it's a leased vehicle, I wanted everything to be able to come off, without anyone being the wiser - hence the use of a small RadioShack "project enclosure" to house both the SmartCord as well as the LI's power switch......

I've now had this SmartCord for over 4 years. It's been cut and re-spliced nearly a half-dozen times. It still works perfectly.

To accomplish my mod "box," I took off the outer label and re-stuck it to the box...and with the exception of just one corner, it was still sticky.

I am amazed at Escort's quality, on this very small piece. :)
