I just acquired a zr3 via one of my wholesaler's. They are going out of business and were offering great deals on a lot of their electronics. I got the escort zr3 for at a good price with shipping and am just curious how hard they are to install, has anyone here ever installed one?

I would just like to know if this is a plug and play type unit or if I will be stuck in my garage for two days and night's tying to figue it out. (will be getting it mid next week)

Any info would be helpful!

I did not install my ZR3 myself. I had a pro do it. It took em the better half of 4 and half hours. I would say it really depends on the type of grill the car has and where you want to mount the jammers. I had a buddy do a ZR3 on his CLK Benz, took em about 3 hours.

There are 2 cables that you'd have to run from the grill area into the car's cabin.
There's a cable you'd have to run from the rear license tag area into the cabin.
There a 12v power connection you'd make somewhere under the dash to the interface box, which is small and can be zip tied somewhere under the dash. All the cables run to it.
There's a small disaply box you'd mount somewhere in sight, and run it's cable to the interface box.
There's a small mute button that you'd mount somewhere within easy reach and run it's cable to the interface box.

The install and user PDF's are on the Escort web site if you want to look at it ahead of time.

03' cobra is what it's going on, The install looks fairly simple shouldn't take more than a few hours.

Hey guys You should only buy from authorized dealers and BELscort like most companys don't approve of blow out prices

There are updates on the way for the Escort ZR3 so you SHOULD NOT buy from a place unless you you can get a full warranty!!!!!!

This is not a place to advertise and sell stuff from other places...it's against rules

Huh.....................................where oh where did you see an advertisement in this thread I was simply asking a question!

And where did you get companys don't approve of blow out prices? They will honor the warranty at any price! I am an Authorized dealer for escort, but have never once tried too sell a detecor or jammer on this forum!

I swear I just looked at my first thread and one of the lines was edited out, the part that said $150.00. I was not trying too sell anything I simply stated the price I got the unit for and the wholesaler I got it from is completely out of stock, I swear some of the moderator's are a little out of hand here!!!!

Yeah i noticed that too, and that my post was deleted. i was just kidding when i said "If you come across another for $150, ill take it". it was a joke. haha. laugh laugh. you know, that sorta thing. i know its illegal for someone to go behind the back of their company and sell stuff at wholesale. it was just a joke. :D its all good though.

People were asking for you to get them a jammer at the same price...I can't have that...

Guys one of my first post i just posted the price i got on a smart coard i purchased and that price was removed....Thats why i edited your post now should i edit your most recent post or will you do that yourself? I also deleted the post of people asking you to get them a Escort ZR3

You were not advertising to sell but people were asking to get a jammer for them at the same price...not cool

Sorry guys i am just upholding the same rules that have been applied to me in the past and present.

Nice, I have one of those myself - is it a 10th Anniv? I would love to have a ZR3 on it - still convincing the wife I need one. :)

Yup, black 10th anniversary Cobra Convertible. Gonna be getting new wheels and tires here shortly the extra boost is causing traction issues. Have any idea how wide I can go in the rear, I'm thinking about putting some spacer's on so I can go real wide in the back!

Oh and the wife doesn't know about the zr3 or the half dozen other detector's I have I keep them locked in my gun safe!

Go over to www.svtperformance.com and search for "IRS bolt" to find all the discussions about clearance between a bolt on the independant rear suspension and the wheel. The bolt doesn't hit wide wheels or tires when your sitting still, but it's possible when the wheel moves through the range of motion allowed by the suspension. Some folks found a suitable hard bolt with a smaller head and replaced it when getting larger wheels in the rear.

I'm running 275/35ZR/18 tires on the stock 18"x9.5" rims on my 2000 because that's as large as I can go and still rotate tires front to back to try and even up tread wear. Plenty of guys on the forum have gone larger in the rear and posted their combinations.
