The Truth $100 RDs vs. $400 RD

I was Driving home from Humble on FM1960 Headed towards I-45 (for those that live here u will know where thats at). Anway there is a brige that allows u to get on the toll headed to 45 from humble anyway its about a 140 Degree angle and there is a drop point over the brige where u cant see on coming traffic (no barriers) anyway before i hit that brige i was speeding with this guy in a frontier hiting speeds of 85 to 90 on a 50 nice big open road 3 - 4 lanes on each side anyway we came to a light and i saw that he had a $120 cobra in his truck and i had my V1-Blinder even when i hit a Ka and slowed down he passed me up not getting the warning that we were the only 2 on the road at that moment speeding and for me to slow down ment nothing to him (the guy is a dumba$$ for not notice or caring about this (people like this shouldnt have RD's) ) so we passed the gas station cop was out of his car so we kept going hiting 90 again and cutting threw little traffic we towards the brige about 300feet before hitting the brige to go up and to that side i got a Ka hit 1 orb (slows down and hits brakes 3 times the guy passes me up i shift lanes to the right insted of being on the left lane) so he keeps speeding i get 2 orbs coming up and cop passed us on the op side but the V-1 is still showing Arrow forward (still at speed limit) so the guy is still going 75 to 80 and im at 50 lol when we were headed down i got full orbs for 4 sec's then the cops hits the brakes on op's side and hits the lights and guns it for the guy with cobra lol i pulled into sonic with the cop and got a bite to eat while i watch the guy and listen on how fast they clocked him on the BC246T going 75 in a 50 it was just a thing of glory to see how his cobra did nothing to warn him on the turn or coming down (he had it ON) shows u how much cobra sux at RD's i would rather speed with out a cobra then speed at all.

Cobra sucks! especially at Ka. They're not bad on K band, but I've NEVER got an advance Ka warning with my Cobra...which is why I got rid of it and got a better detector :) Good work. It's safe to say he got OWNED!

what you pay is what you get.. in radar detection its wise to pay mor and get a better one..

especialy if you depend on your licence.

So true I have seen this with my own eyes and radar detectors.
I am fortunate enough to own both high end units and low end units and there is a difference!!

As I've said before, I've owned a lot of detectors including the old Fox units with the 2 'pointers' that you mount under the hood and I've never gotten a speeding ticket yet. I like my X50 but in reality, I get 2X more falses from the X50 than from my last <$100 Whistler. I've since turned off POP and LASER on the X50 as I've driven 13,000 miles with the X50 in mainly Indiana and Illinois and have yet to get a valid LEO on either.

If I make a run to Florida as I plan on next summer, I'll probably turn them back on but with them off, I cut the falses down 60%.

Sometimes I think maybe it's because I only drive 5-10 over the but 2 years I went without a detector I received 3 speeding tickets.

i have used 2 cheap cobras before and i dont know how people can depend on anything but the big 3

i wouldnt recommend turning off Laser on the X50, it doesnt usually false on laser... Pop, thats another story you can go ahead turn it off :wink:

I got to admit that was the first time those arrows saved me if i had my X50 pluged in it would have just been at full Ka because i thought that was the cop that was running his radar when he passed us but those arrows stayed constant forward after he passed us and on the way down was the 2nd cop

Funtionally speaking, I see little difference between my BEL 940/960, Passport 5000, and V1. The Passport 5000 is a little less sensitive on Ka than the others, but it rejects falses better than the BELs and Valentine.
I'm the type that slows down and then looks at the arrows, however.

i've got a friend who has a cobra and no laser protection, and he's a 85mph on any freeway (50, 55, or 65) driver... i'm just waiting for him to get nailed one of these days :).

today i was driving to my grandpas house and this guy in a massively pimped out escalade comes flying up behind me (i was doing like 58 in a 50) and he must have been going 70. we got stuck at the same stop light and from first glance through the tinted windows, i thought it might be an x50 (it had that general shape). so i think "welcome to the world of good rd's". then my detector starts going on POP every few seconds... so much for that being a good detector :D

So, just because people don't have 200 posts, they can't comment on a run-on sentence that affects readability? The number of postings is irrelevant to whether or not it's actually a run-on sentence.

Don't take it as a personal attack. I thought it was a great story (and love my V1). It's just difficult to read.
