Redflex Traffic Systems Wins New Zealand Mobile Radar Speed Camera Contract valued at over AU$3 million

Redflex Traffic Systems Pty Ltd, a wholly owned subsidiary of Redflex Holdings Limited, is pleased to announce another international success with the execution of a contract with the New Zealand Police for the supply of mobile radar speed cameras. The contract, valued at over AU$3 million, is subject to the successful completion of the gazetting process in New Zealand.
The win follows on from other successes in the mobile enforcement market segment, including the supply of mobile radar speed cameras to the South Australian Police and the Redflex selection as the outsourced vendor for the first state-wide speed enforcement program in North America by the Arizona Department of Public Safety. The Arizona contract is for up to170 systems which include 40 mobile radar speed cameras as well as 10 mobile red light systems, 90 dedicated fixed speed systems and 30 combination systems.
Redflex cameras have been used in a red-light enforcement trial at intersections in the central Auckland area.

We got them and you don't what them. I'm thinking a while back Drams posted a Vid about one but not sure. Has anybody got this new camera nailed yet or just the old fire bomb trick will do?

I pick these up anywhere from a quarter mile to less than 300 feet away with my V1, depends how the operator has setup the trap. Also I think some of the longer range warnings are reflections off of vehicles ahead of me. The big yellow signs they put out at a half mile are much better warning.

Not to mention those vans are anything but stealthy in their appearance. I saw one last year between Kingman and Hoover Dam and it stuck out like a sore thumb. It had these largish masts on its roof for what appeared to be camera flashes.

Yep, I usually rely on the signs to let me know when to slow down. That and trapster on the iphone has the locations a lot of the time. Trapster seems to be picking up more members now that the iphone has dropped to 99$. I signed up to be a mod and will try and work to get the time for mobile vans increased to more than a few hours since the vans in AZ can linger for up to a week now. Once the duration gets increased, trapster will become an even better source of info where the vans are. With the new release, trapster will even send a push notification when someone adds a new trap, including the mobile vans.

what can we really do about these dam low powered k ban radar's man it sucks i believe nz police got these solely because you don't get advanced warning on your radar detector. it's funny how they say our radar detector's don't work yet they use instant on and they also use low powered k ban radar now

These guys park around the corner from my office every couple of weeks so I use it as an opportunity to test stuff. I found that they are using vertical polarization on their antenna and you're able to increase performance a little bit by turning the detector on its side

I would say the NZ police asked a number of company's to try for the contract. It so happens that it ended up with this company because they were the cheapest. Keeping in mind that they are also trying to outlaw radar detector as well.....
I hear on the grape vine bell maybe addressing this problem with some new toys for NZ. I don't if this will happen for sure, but if the only K band used in NZ is this camera and all other police radar used was Ka, it wouldn't be a dumb idea to have a red hot K band Euro and the full spectrum of Ka eh ;)

Dont know if this has already been posted, but i find this very disconcerting if this shooting was directed at REDFLEX camera co. and not just an isolated incident
