V1 is wired regularly from a fusebox using an 'add-a-circuit' fuse tap. The iPhone is hooked up to the SignalActive box.

The main V1 unit display is dimmed when the iPhone is plugged in; it lights back up when you unplug the iPhone.

I'm not so thrilled about the whole social detecting or tracing of traps as I am the prospect of being able to apply truelock-ish methodology to the v1 via the iphones processing.

The SignalActive hardware/software is meant to compliment the Valentine One hardware you have... in other words - it will work with the V1 concealed display as well.

If a products functionality is limitless, the interest will come. Droid has only been out for less then a year.
So you can root your iPhone? Over clock it to 1.3 GHz? Take a phone design you like and apply it to the iPhone? Use removable mini SD cards? ect.. This is what they mean by "Droid does":)

Don't turn this into a iPhone vs Droid argument. They obviously picked the iPhone due to the amount of users.

I can root my iPhone. Geohot shows you how. He has already rooted the iPad and controlled it externally.
Who need to overckock a 3GS?
I have ended rotating access through genius to my over 150GB of music and music videos on my its library.
Between apples app store, cydia, and rock it will take droid 5+ years to catch up if they ever do.
There are so many designs in cydia and rock I don't have to create one.
There's a reason when the droid or any other smart phone comes out now a days there are ads everywhere saying "will this be the next iPhone killer?"
Beisdes anyone who travels abroad knows what a pain it is to have a CDMA POS carrier like Verizon. Unless you have a black berry with world cappabilities your pretty much screwed as the rest of the world has moved onto GSM and better.
Even black berry is way behind now. I have a tour 9630 and most of the apps for it that I can get on the iPhone too suck compared to the iPhone.
A friend if mine has a droid and when I am always showing him what droid can't do.
I got accepted to the beta too but haven't heard anything else. I did speak with then by email and they said they will be opening up more states to beta testing by the amount of interest they have gotten and they have a record of who signed up first and will look out for them when/if it comes to they're state.
I say if it isn't going to be in a nationwide beta sometime soon when will we be able to buy it?

I have had many winmo phones over the years, since smartphone 2003 edition. Including my most recent, which was a HTC Imagio (6.5) that I had for work. 7 may look promising, but I have been kicked down and left in the dirt by WinMo so many times...it will be a cold day in hell before I give up my iPhone for a WinMo.
I used to get a new phone every 3 months or so, never really satisfied. I bought my first iPhone in late August 2007, and since then have only gotten a new phone to upgrade to a newer model iPhone. I don't forsee me going anywhere else anytime soon.
BTW V1Fan...with the new backgrounding features coming in 4.0 this app will become even better!!
(OS 4.0 features were just announced this afternoon, for those who don't know yet, multitasking is included)

+1
I wouldn't give up my iPhone either.
And +1 for multitasking and the 3D dock.
Can't wait till June/July when they should be announcing and releasing a new iPhone as they do every year.
My gf has the HTC touch diamond pro and it is a royal PITA.
Nothing beats multi touch.
The ipad is also amazing. I got a wi fi one until my 3G one comes in a few weeks. It is simply amazing. The screen is 100 times better than the iPhones. (until the next iPhone in a couple months).
Maybe Microsoft will get it right this time. I think it may be they're last chance for phones. They are taking a better role in hardware this time so it might just be different. Before they strictly did the software and left it up to the phone manufacturers to figure out the best way to impliment it. Now they are following Apples cue and getting involved in the hardware side as well.

I was wondering how the iPhone and the V1 are joined together. By the pics, it appears as if its via the mini jack? That would be a good thing for me because I use the Tom Tom GPS adapter. IF the V1 could be integrated with GPS apps that would make it that much better!

Run 5.0 Radio, plus your app together and that would rock. Have the iPhone connected to a power source not to drain the battery, then have a connection to the stereo speakers for 5.0 radio

I would hope they complete the design for the V1 first before even touching the other detectors. The escort folks believe they have a fine gps solution already so they can wait lol.
The audi is mounted exactly would I plan to mount my phone which will become semi-permanent when this app is available. On both the iPhone and Android platform, the things this app could do is almost limitless.
This is a great idea.. really all i care about is the interface the real-time speed update would be nice.. but i don't think there is enough users out there.. if you merged with trapster i think it would be a little better platform for both ends..
Droid is a much better platform then the iPhone, its completely limitless. Hope to see this on the Droid too.
I have the iPhone 3GS and the droid.. honestly I loved the iPhone but hated the service.. AT&T blows.. plain and simple.. maybe not abroad but it blows in the states or where i live, as well as AT&T 3G blows everywhere you go.. maybe an iphone issue i don't really know.. on the other hand I hate the droid phone and love the service haha. The droid is slow and has major interface and OS bugs and errors, the pop out keyboard is pointless, the web browser is horrible, the touch interface is far superior than any other verizon smart phone but still has a lot of problems and nowhere near comparable to the iphone.. the iphones skin recognition is plain and simple genius, the acceleromter is slow, the proximity sensor only works on the right ear because on the left ear the proixmity sensor is off my ear and it doesn't realize that a quarter of an inch further is my neck, market and interface is difficult and not as functional as the iphone..
Which is better.. phone wise.. iphone all the way.. but having a phone thats awsome but not being able to use it half the time makes it non-practical

Don,t get me wrong the iPhone is no slouch and the benchmark for all. But the DROID is easily a better product overall because of, phone service, flexibility, speech to text is awesome, mini SD, and replaceable battery puts it on top no question IMO. I never had any bugs and its not slow by any means. Could be the version you have but its pretty flawless. Did you get the new 2.1 update?
Though i don't use the slide keyboard its very useful for programing, and rooting in a recovery mode.

I have GREAT AT&T 3G service. I also travel a lot and haven't had any problems with service except for insome parts of the mid west.
I had a verizon air card and I paid the cancelation fee to get rid of it. It was slower than hell and verizon kept overcharging me and they're cs was complete bs. My iPhone data was faster in Mexico than the Verizon air card was in the US.
One rep admitted to me that they have a major problem tracking data usage. Hence all the CNN stories about outrageous data bills.
IMO anyone who would be rooting on they're Droid if they had an iPhone would have it jailbroken. So all the flexibility and limitation crap goes out the window. I have been multitasking, tethering, watching TV on my AT&T 3G connection, viewing my security system, and cloning my iphone on my cars NAV screen since right after the 3G came out.
I had a 16 Gig 3G and now have a 32 Gig 3GS so I have no need for more memory nor want to deal with SD cards.
I have a Blackberry Tour 9630 and have used other android phones and by far not only is the iPhone superior in so many ways but surfing the Internet for any amount of time is a complete PITA on anything but the iPhone. haha my friend had the newest iPhone and his calls would drop like crazy. he just switched over to the droid with no problems. hes a trucker and had the AT&T wireless card with "unlimited internet" yeah bull****. they charged him $500 (which they "could not refund") for his extra 5 gig of usage and on top of that cut his internet off while he was on a delivery and needed to get directions. I had AT&T for a week until i went back and demanded they cancel my plan and take their POS back. I have verizon now with NO problems. I get service when no one else gets service and i dont need to "multitask" ten million apps considering i dont care for downloading videos while talking to my friends and dont see the point in talking to your friend and getting online at the same time.
plus no insurance for the iPhone is a HUGE minus.

Really it depends where you live. I had alltel/now verizon, for a long time. We dropped it for at&t and do not regret it at all. You're only gonna get charged for the internet like that if you don't have a data plan. If you just get an unlimited data plan, its a certain amount each month. But using the internet without a data plan is like paying for every single text message, instead of getting an unlimited plan.

Using multitouch to zoom in and out and having the screen real-estate of the iPhone makes Internet browsing great on a phone.
IMO they might as well stop. There will NEVER be an "iPhone killer".
haha my friend had the newest iPhone and his calls would drop like crazy. he just switched over to the droid with no problems. hes a trucker and had the AT&T wireless card with "unlimited internet" yeah bull****. they charged him $500 (which they "could not refund") for his extra 5 gig of usage and on top of that cut his internet off while he was on a delivery and needed to get directions.
HA? Read the other posts buddy.
I never said anything about an ATT aircard. I had an alltel aircard until lame Verizon bought them.
I was referring to the ATT data. I get great service even up to 2-5 miles off shore on my boat. I had a Verizord and was charged $.020 cents a MB after 5 gig when I wasnt even going over, had proof and Verizon said they couldnt keep track of it accuratly but oh well.
I have never had any problems with Alltels or Sprints aircards and I drive from all over the country. Only place I have ever had a problem was in the desert in the mid west.
And only a Verizon customer would "not see the point of talking and getting on the web at the same time."
I actually do it often. When I am placing a call to someone I have an account with and need information about my account like a bill or account number, I can get it off line in a couple seconds. Or if I am talking to a friend and need to give them a number or want to read them something I saw online. Or even better is being able to look at my Think or Swim account while I am talking to the trading desk to close a position quickly and not having to guess a price because I am not in front of my computer and dont have access to a chart.
Theres a million uses for it but if you absolutely cannot do it I guess you will never know.
I guess it just depends on what kind of user you are. Some people cant tell the difference between 1080P and SDTV (let alone 2560X1600). LOL
And I know the POS Verizon network isnt fast enough to download anything quickly let alone a video so I see you there, but it is nice when you are downloading something to be able to accept a call if it comes in and not have to stop the download or wait for it to finish.
Strange how Verizon has been on CNN and MSNBC four or five times in the past 6 months for admitting (most of the time) being wrong for sending people $10K+++ bills for aircard usage because they cant keep track.
Must not be too bad nationwide if Apple will refuse to give the Iphone to them. I know the WSJ said Verizon would get it this year, and Verizon CEO did confirm they want it because it takes SOO many customers from them (his words not mine) but come to find out it was nothing more than him wanting it. As the Street.com (Jim Cramers site) and now the Iphone that was leaked (found really) confirm the new Iphone has SIM card. Imagine that. Theyre gonna keep the best selling phone in the country with a SIM card. Just like every other country in the world.
Less cell phone talk, more radar detector talk! You guys are way off topic now.

I have a blackberry but I think it will do 10x better on an iPhone/iPod Touch because blackberry development is not great and even powerhouses like eBay don't have a respectable application

Yeah there is but it is not officially released yet. You would have to become a beta tester via the Home | SignalActive (http://www.signalactive.com) website (register under the early adopter section and you must also have an iphone (more smart phones to come but for now exclusive to the iphone)

This product is much more than an app - it is a complex software system that supports multiple simultaneous users as well as a hardware interface that allows each radar detector user to plug the V1 directly into the network. The beta-test program is limited and ongoing.
The 'early adopters' will have the priority for the first release - we are working hard to make it available as soon as possible. Thanks for the enthusiasm and support. Cheers!

I work in the IT field and I have to say that this involves some complex software coding. Being able to convert V1 hardware signal into code so it will be recognized and displayed on the IPhone is impressive and difficult to accomplish. I would love to see the program coding for this application to see how it's done. Excuse me while I have my geek attack! :geekon: Nicely done!
The way the IPhone is going we are eventually going to have a medical app that allows you to scan the phone over your body and tell you the medical problem.

280 freeway, in CA, around SF
The audio connector that you see takes the Valentine1 data input through the mic, and lets the iPhone audio signal out (to play music through AUX input in the audi)
As the radar signal is registered on the screen of the iPhone, it is also reported as a Ka speed trap to all RadarActive users.
