Anybody have an opinon yet of the STI?
Rich ruby red coloured with ripe cherries, smoky oak and slightly herbal aromas setting the scene for a silky textured, savoury mouthful with an earthy richness, a lovely marriage of sweet and tart fruit in the cherry and guava spectrum, spices, silky tannins and a mouthfilling chocolatey finish. Medium to full-bodied, quite dry with good acidity but beautifully balanced throughout.

We don't need anymore OPINIONS.......We need some PROOF....
How about it Roy......some test results :?:

No falses. I took peoples advice and decided to drive with the STi alone and it performs very well actually.

To us up here the Number 1 issue is UNDETECABILITY.......If it fails that then all other bets are off.
Bel won't be seling any units in Ontario at $530.00 CDN. if it hasn't defeated the Spectre 100%.
And probably not anywhere else the Spectre/Stalcar are the #1 issue.

I really hope that when people think of GOL they think of HONEST results with no BS. Remember we are consumers also and are only looking to see what is the best so WE can buy it for ourselves. We are not controlled by ANYONE. The day we lose our integrity is the day we dismantle the team.

I like the STi. It picks up as much as my x50 and sometimes more....Not sure if that's good or bad because I assume the extra alerts the STi picks up are falses. I ran the STi a week in Florida while on vacation.

I don't have any equipment to test the leakage. So i don't know. How do you test leakage anyway? Do i take it to a shop that has special equipment?

Nothing out of the ordinary. The more I drive with it the more confident i feel that it is as good as my x50. Still falses a bit more then the x50 but i'd rather false then miss a real alert.

Please get off your “Soap Box” with this continual advertisement.
I for one do not wish to be reminded every week.
You’ve made your point.
I would like you to consider this. I have found that those who continually profess they have no agenda’s have many. Clearly your #1 Agenda is promoting the GOL every chance you get, so you are hardly agenda free.
Just the simple fact that you are an Administrator of this Forum and a Personal Friend of Radar Roy, who owns this forum and is in business selling RD’s puts you into a position of having a possible “Conflict of Interest”.

Csteph ,
glad you have the Sti , can you tell me how do you like the tech display , is it easy to read in the normal driving conditions ? How about when it is very sunny , can you read it easily ?
Can the tech display help to recognise a false source ?
And do you like the talking ability , does it really speak out the frequency or just a band alert ?
Can you post some pics in action ? even wav files ...
Thanks.

Jimbonzzz post (http://www.radardetector.net//viewtopic.php?t=960&highlight=tech+display+rx65)
Tech Display is good for your normal driving area that you are familiar with. Ie there is a store opener running at 24.166GHz, then if you get 24.150 in the same spot there is a problem :)
It is also good to know the type of Ka radar gun that is being used.
***This only really works on Ka:
33.3 (35.5?)GHz Genesis II
33.8 GHz MPH BEE III (BEE 36)
34.70 or 34.94 GHz Stalker ATR
34.70 Stalker DSR
34.2 - 35.2 GHz Stalker ATR (freq hopper)
34.3 GHz TMT-6F photo radar/Multanova 6F photo radar
34.6 GHz PR-100 photo radar
33.4 GHz photo radar
34.6 GHz Lockheed Martin photo system ******
But all K-band police radar should run at 24.150, and all X-band should run at 10.525, but they drift out of frequency very easily. Plus the Tech Display (at least on RX65) isn't very accurate.
The display is nearly identical to the RX65, so it should be pretty much the same. Haven't heard any complaints of visibility. Expert mode does get a little tricky (what is the one that shows multiple threats at once?)
Smart ,
when do you plan buying the osti ?
Merci pour les info.Et puis bonne Année = Santé et $$$

When Bel starts sending them to Roy so he can send them to me
Honestly I want to see DET's test and GoL as well. I really want to see the REAL leakage numbers.
I think the voice/alerts are the same as the other Bel as well. crazyVOLVOrob posted a video of that a week ago, I tried to find it but didn't see it. It's there somewhere :)

Here you go...
Guys the audio on BELs don't allow for full audio alert...HOWEVER the bar graph will show a full alert! And if you can't tell it's a full alert you deserve to be slapped.
Here is a video I made where you can hear a Ka, K, and POP alert at full tone! (http://www.we-todd-did-racing.com/wetoddimage.wtdr/wMTAzNjEzMzZzNDEzZGZkMzF5NTQx)

I don't own an Rx65 but the STi is an Rx65 or x50 with these additional features:
1) magnesium case :D
2) auto dimming display (sensor on front - bright during day, dimmer at night) :D
3) buttons on the front (they glow in the dark :x :x :x  )
4) internal speaker is below the unit (designed for high mounting.)
5) Display can be inverted for upside down mounting.
Feature wise, nothing else is different. So if the Rx65 or x50 doesn't do it, neither will the STi. Performance is another topic.
I've posted the only pics i have so far on this thread: http://www.radardetector.net/viewtopic.php?t=6759&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=30

I received a call from a dealer in Brisbane last night trying to sell me an STi which are apparently arriving today. I have already ordered & paid for one from Roy. The conversion rate: $514.95 USD = $708.45 AUD, the dealer was trying to flog one to me for $1095 AUD, so if any of you guys are complaining about the price, have a guess how I feel!!!!!
Can't wait until mine is sent by Roy!!!!! :D

:?: did you look at those FCC pics? The STi internals are dramatically different then the RX65/X50. The STi is truly a different animal. I see 3 LOs, 2 other oscillators, possibly 2nd LO and marker/cal LO. This unit is a significant technical advancement over current BEL products. It looks like X band and K/Ka each have a separate RF LNA. No this isn't an RX65/X50 in new clothing, this is something new :!:

What you see and what you get are two different things. I'm sure it has the insides that should make it technically advanced. But after driving with mine for a month on my daily commute. i'm not convinced that it performs much better then my x50. Falses a whole lot more but that's my opinion. No matter what the GOL or Roy verdict is, I think we have a new "chicken little" in the STi.

:) true, true. The hardware changes especially the X and K/Ka LNAs, could all be providing that 12 inch Spectre detect range that Roy spoke of.
Bel may have designed for invisibility in lieu of greater sensitivity. As for falsing that is problematical, I hate falsing.
If the real world sensitivity matches the X50, well that's good enough for me, what else do you really need ?

Since you posted that you received your STi on December 23, that's quite a short "month" of commuting experience, especially with a couple holidays included! You've previously said "no falses" and "falses a bit more than the X50." Have you changed your mind, and are you now using your X50 instead because you like it more?

Letting GOL guys have a retail unit would really be the nuts. Csteph you can trust these guys with your goods without doubt. I sent Jim an Escort DSP for checking (probably not the one going to be used in GOL) but you wont have to worry trusting them and it would really be nice to see how one out of retail distribution tests.

well, some others have said if the STi has the same performance as the X50, but is Spectre immune, then that is good enough. So maybe Bel listened, and made the STi on-par with the X50 (as it is "good enough") since people would buy it anyway without better performance.
