I had 3 RX65s in series... the first 2 got some kind of "CAL" error and then "SERVICE REQUIRED" popped up and cycled. So after returning 2 times...the last one worked.

I also purchased an X50 after that ordeal, and the X50 has worked flawlessly since I got it.

Does the X50 and RX65 come off the same factory line and same Quality Assurance QA? The X50s seem to have less of these problems.

i reckon it may be a voltage thing on my vehicle. when cranking it over it may be supplying incorrect voltage at that moment and the message kicks in.its only a few times not everytime that its happened and if i switch it off and then back on its ok.i guess it resets if you do that and if the problems not there it works ok. :?

I think would best to turn off power from detector rather from ignition key switch. Whilst cranking the supply voltage may not be constant that trigger SERVICE error. I have done before and never encounter this fault but just to play safe to turn off power from detector.

Well you would assume the manufacturer would take into consideration the various cars, and provide either a sufficient capacitor or other protection for the detector....

Hi

I've not had a problem with the angle, it can be read easily
It don't false any more then Bel 550 I had before this.

I have the remote head unit for the V1 and I'm looking for a new car and when I get it i'll use that in the dahboard some how.

But I have to say the V1 is the best detector I have used and I've been using detectors since 1990.

The service message will display if the unit experiences a votlage spike.

Since this is happening when you start your car, it sounds like your accessories are getting too high of a voltage then is normal.

Normally, shutting off the detector and turning it back on will cure the message with the detector.

However, you may want to check your car if indeed it is sending out too much current during start up, to protect the other electronic items in your car.
