I just through my V1 up on the windshield for the last couple of weeks for the year since Ohio State Patrol upped enforcement through Thanksgiving. I'll do an under the fairing nose mount in weatherproof box and VisAlert in the helmut this winter.

What surprised me was how my body was blocking the rear arrow after a LEO passed with C/O Ka. I didn't have any rear arrow but a front arrow off the cargo van infront of me. I was shocked!

Yeah... I have said this for years... yet people on this site (who didn't even ride motorcycles) used to disagree that the V1 arrows suck when using it mounted on your windscreen on a bike.

Mike V. even notes this on his site... (maybe in the manual somewhere too).

BTW... I know its easy at those speed to do pretty much anything (since the bike will drive itself in a straight line), but jeez be careful taking a pic there mate... no need to prove this, I believe ya without it!

I would expect that because the radar signal must travel threw your body. I have my V-1 mounted high on my BMW R1100Rt and do not notice this. In bad weather I put the V-1 in the Glove Box on the left of bike mounted vertical. Of course I then loose Laser detection. Has anyone seen a way to get laser to a concealed V-1 via Fiber Optics? My laser alert issue will go away when I get my LI mounted. I still would like to have the V-1 work if possible. Laser Alert is a must in Ohio the way the OSP and locals use it and I would get an alert if I got nailed by a Laser Alley or other new LADIR gun.

He might end up with a few holes in him, but at least the rear reception on his V1 may improve!!

Highway cruise and was even able to send it as a message. :)

I since put it on the brake reservoir. This helped but not much as I spend most of the time with my helmut on the tank. :)

RAM Mounts may be useful if you're trying to move the detector out a bit. They have parts that would allow you to clamp around the handlebar or any other convenient place, quick releases, and arms of different lengths. There's no V1-specific attachment but you can get a flat base of the appropriate size and tape it on.

I was thinking about alternatives like RAM, good stuff!

Top of the helmut would be the best but I ride the whole season, that means rain. So I'll be mounting on bike. The brake reservoir is working now as it's behind the windshield which will work for Laser.

Why are you going to lose your laser alert on your v1, whenever you hook up your LI? I just ordered my LI unit and i currently have a V1.

BTW folks i have my v1 hooked up behind my dark smoke windscreen and it works perfectly fine for me.

When I put the V-1 away for bad weather (Rain) then the V-1 can not see laser. The LI even connected to the V-1 will not alert to some of the new Laser Guns (Laser ally) until there is a firmware upgrade to the LI computer. The V-1 does alert with the new guns so far. Tnx

Wow, i did not relize that the v1's will not respond to newer guns and if thats the case than i am really disappointed with my v1. Thanks for the heads up!

I don't think you interpreted what he said correctly. Because like most in car detectors are not waterproof he puts it in a saddle bag or disconnects it rendering it useless so if lasered he just has the LI to defend him. :_

No, No. The V-1 DOES respond to newer guns. The LI does not see new guns( IE Laser Ally) until firmware is upgraded to see these guns. The V-1 responded to the Laser Ally just fine. Tnx Sorry for mix up

There is not an update yet so as of now your LI does not jam the Laser Ally. No jammer can jam the Laser Ally at the current time other than the old LE-10 which is an out of production brute force jammer.

I used to keep my V1 in the top compartment of my tank bag (2004 Hayabusa tourer)I would rather lose the laser than advertise that I have a detector to everyone. It worked fine most of the time. My main goal was to know if the cops I saw or passed sitting were actually shooting or just BSing. I've passed them on the Foothills Parkway just sitting and talking, but not shooting. Same at The Gap. Still need to keep your head on a swivel, for several reasons.
