How to Change Alert Sound Files?

I'm getting tired of "Welcome!" every time I start my car. I know that the alert sound files can be changed through the serial port (who uses serial ports anymore?). Has any one done this and outlined the steps involved?

I just want to change "Welcome!" to a "beep" wav or pcm file.
