I am looking for a simple portable scanner that can be used in the car as well as at home. Something that can monitor the local police band (New York City). Hopefully something I can afford (read: cheap).

NOTE: I am completely new to this. Just thought it would be interesting to hear some of the stuff happening in my neighborhood.

Uniden 246t or Radio Shack pro2051 or Uniden bct-8

They all can listen to trunked radio systems use in NYC

Where should I buy them from? Like I said, I'm completely new to this. Obviously the Radio Shack one, I know where to get it. :)
