Okay, I have looked through all the threads and I've seen good and bad posts. I think a poll might help me in the end, for my piece of mind. I would like honest opinions based on radar (not lasar). You can explain how you voted if you'd like too... Thanks again

I bought an rx55 when they first came out instead of the rx65 to save money and I was very disappointed in the false alarms. The 2 months I had it I never got a detection range worth talking about either. I got one of the first ones though and it is possible they have improved since then. I then went to the 8500 and liked it much better. I have had 3 Bel's and I think I am just an Escort and Valentine person.

I have had the RX65 for over a year now and it saved many times. The only thing I didn't like is that it falses whenever I am talking on the phone (GSM).... I do have M20 so should just turn it off.

I know I heard so many complaint about laser sensitivity but so it alerted to all laser hits.

The rx55 is a decent detector, I think it falses less then say a x50 v1 rx65 but thats only because it lacks the range of the big three! If you can afford to spend a little extra for an x50 do it, you won't be sorry. :D

I have an 8500 now and want a detector that is smaller length wise. I didn't spend the extra for the RX65 because I didn't feel it was worth it for the small differences

Does anyone know off hand what the latest firmware version is on this unit ?

Does 6.2 seem to be the latest version, anyone ?
Just called them, that's the latest.

I just received my RX55 today. I have to say, it's really light compared to my Escort 8500. That kinda worries me, how the quality of the detector is. I believe I saw a post somewhere that said the RX65 is heavier, is that true ?
I'm going to have to test it out some and see how I like it, I'm really thinking about exchanging it for the RX65 already though. When looking at the features I can customize, it took me all of 30 seconds to look at them, there aren't many at all.

I liked the RX55, but the inability to disable bands X and K [except CityNoX] meant the thing never shut up... reminded me of a uniden stalker I used to have. Having said that, the range on Ka was great, although it falsed more on Ka than my RX65 ever has. I think it's a great detector for the price. The RX65 is definately heavier.

I'm not really worried about falsing since I don't live in the city. When I've had to go out during the day I have been trying to go into places cops usually sit and shoot radar, of course when you're looking for a cop you can never find one.

Well, either my RX55 was not working correctly or that's just how poor they all operate. Either way, it was horrible. It wouldn't go off until I was right on top of the cop(s). It was sent back today, I ordered a RX65 and will have that Thursday/Friday. I hope this unit works well. It is the new M4 2.9 version so I'll cross my fingers.

MY display was hard to read... ok... not at all... under sunlight, but it looks like I may have been an exeption. As for range, I didn't find it anything to right home about...

I agree, the screen on the RX55 was hard for me to read when the sun was coming down from above but I assume the RX65's screen is similar.

The range does lack on the 55 no where near the 65's!

Does anyone know if anyone has, or is in the process of doing any tests on the RX65 with the new M4 2.9 version compared to say the 4.5 and the other top detectors ?

You would think after reading the tests @ http://www.radarbusters.com/support/product-tests/2.asp that with the RX55 being .2-.3 different in range that it would perform well. I guess that's not so true (assuming my unit was working correctly).

Nevermind, I misread the subject, I thought we were talking about the 65
