745 sti

im ordering my new v1 today. in the meantime i put my 745sti back up to use. what can i expect from this unit against todays threats.i know its 10 years old but i remember it being one of the best when i bought in 95 or 96. it is still in mint condition and seems to work great.

I think he is talking about the old 745 STi, of early 90s vintage, not the new STi driver. Talk about falsing, the 745 beats all comers! I owned 10 of them most were warranty replacements. I had one good one and sold it when I bought my first V1. 745 is Ok on K band, lousy on X band, and mediocre or worse on Ka band.

I would prefer a 980 or 985 as a backup.

I got a Bel 745sti off of ebay and was not impressed. I think it was made around 1993-94. That thing falsed on k band ALL THE TIME. I would be driving down the road and all of a sudden k band would go off. Nothing. Don't get me wrong I like Bel but not the 745. I guess the one I got had a problem w/ the k band. If it works, I would go ahead and use it. Mk
