Hi NOC,

The 9500i's sensitivity at highway speeds (around 50mph+) should, according to GOL's tests, very slightly exceed the performance of the STi. Yet the 9500i around town in Auto Sensitivity mode should be remarkably quiet compared to the STi. At least, this is what I already have observed during the past several weeks.

Tomorrow I am headed out on a 10 day road trip from GA to TX and then back again. I will be testing both my STi and my 9500i during my trip. Today I installed another permanent mounting bracket just above the top right of my RVM to compliment the already installed bracket above the top left of my RVM. Now I have both my STi and my 9500i mounted above my RVM, spaced just 6 inches apart and at the exact same height. Thus I can quickly power up either one or the other for some fun comparison tests during my long road trip!

Anyway, it will be interesting to compare my results and observations around 10 days from now to your results and observations after a similar period of time. :)

Thanks for your post Michael. I can say that after just a couple of days, I'm liking the 9500i already. I locked out a bunch of my regular annoying spots on my way home last night. On my way back to work this morning, not a one made a peep. What's more, I encountered two LEO's passing through a small town (they only have two cars) and they both were running X band constant. I picked up the first one from the other side of a hill at about 3/4 of a mile and the second was picked up after making a turn, he was up ahead about a quarter mile. Then I kept getting him for another 3/4 after passing him. Oh, and the ramp up? Perfect! Like a geiger counter.

I wished that X was not used here tho...if u can turn off X it will make ne RD a lot more quiet

If you use TrueLock correctly and wisely you can get rid of some of those X falses. You just need to be real careful and read my Turlock Tricks post. :wink:

Well, I'm happy (and sad) to say that I really like the 9500i a lot. It really seems to work well but more importantly, meets my needs. Sad because the STi is a heck of a detector but not really what I need (I don't go through any States like VA or DC and don't drive a lot of highways). So, I'm going to keep the 9500 and sell the STi. Any suggestions on how best to do that? Ebay?

Good luck on the 9500i. Keep us posted on your experiences with it. If and when I upgrade, that's the direction I'm going.

how much did you get for your STi? I usually average around $375 when I sell um.

I didn't sell it actually. On the last day of the auction, eBay took it down because Bel complained of copyright infringement. I clipped the pic of the STi from their website and they didn't like that I guess. So I need to take my own pics of it and relist it. I just haven't had the time yet. So... its still for sale.
