Hmm I think you sold me on this jammer idea. Its one thing to get a warning, its another to defend yourself. My next step is to put my sti near my plate in a plastic bag and use the 12v speaker, this way I will get a better laser reading.... Thanks for the info

None of this will work very well if you are wwwaaaaayyyyy over the PSL. Very few people have jammers and most LEO's believe they don't work. Where do you live? Maybe jammers are legal where you live.
Thanks for the tip. I will definately use that stratagy when using the jammer. Just a quick question, if I bought my STi less than a year ago but don't have a receipt, will Bel do the flash for free? What exactly should I do to ensure that they wont charge for flash? Also, I have been getting short distance/ few warnings on ka band. Will they do some sort of alignment or diagnostic to see if there is anything wrong with it? I heard that the axis is sometimes off.
Maybe you have a credit card receipt, or a bank transaction indicating where you spent the money and when...maybe they'd "buy" that.
I'm not sure if you really have a problem, as distance to detection can vary pretty widely. For example, these photoradar vermin are harder to detect than standard radar applications, because they are aiming their radar with the flow of traffic. To detect them, your RD is picking up emissions that are pretty much off the back of the transmitter antenna. Sometimes I can get them from 200' or so, though one time nearly gave me a heart attack...I was less than 20' away when I got the alert. Was it conditions (e.g., other cars blocking the signal? Temperature? Humidity?), perhaps it was a newer, lower power radar gun, or a more directional antenna... who knows?! I switched permanently into hwy mode for better sensitivity that day!
Hopefully you can talk to the folks, and they'll be helpful in telling you what they can do, and all, but I believe they do a thorough check over before they send it back to you. I found them pretty helpful and friendly when I had to send in my g/f's Bel 65 because of the self calibration problem. Turned out to be the antenna connection to the circuit board was broken and needed to be resoldered.

Are you in Toronto? Toronto Police uses MPH 33.8 radar units exclusively, also they are in love with laser on tripod but in pretty much always same locations, 40 and 50 Km/h zones are they favorite ones... never ever do more than 20 km/h over the local speed limit, in school zones stay within 15 km/h over the speed limit... as per laser detection please see my personal case http://www.radardetector.net/viewtop...er=asc&start=0Quote:

I live in Ottawa actually. I`ve seen some 33.8GHz (rarely), mainly 34.7GHz. Its just odd how I`ve never gotten a pop/laser warning since I bought this unit july 07. The product is marked "2707" but according to the dimmer test it has the bug. I also notice I get a crap load of X band falses with this unit and was forced to use "city noX". On this mode I find that I get few ka warnings on patrolling leos. I will be sending this unit back to the seller as he offers a 1 year exchange warranty on these units. I will make sure he send me one with a recent date code. I will also try to mount the radar somewhere in the dash so it can detect laser better or just purchase a jammer.
I'm not sure what the laws are in Canada. In the US, an officer has to have a reasonable belief that a crime is being committed to begin searching the car without the driver's consent. If you're using an STi, the Spectre won't see it.Quote:
