Installed this morning...WOW!!!...This thing is sensitive!! It was alerting 2-3 seconds earlier than my 9500i on the K band signs on my way home.

What Ka band do I turn off?

The only ones used in the US are 2, 5 & 8. That being said, I personally wouldn't turn off any of them, just in case. This thing is already wwaaaayyyy sensitive.

I'll leave them all on and see what happens....I think eventually I'll turn K band off on the STi-R off and use Kband only on my 9500i since it filters better for in town...I noticed the STi-R alerted on the same falses as my 9500i but sooner.

The Ka band sensitivity difference is what will blow you away the most. If I owned an STi-R, I would turn off segment 10, because I have several false alerts near me between 35.900 and 35.999. Your area might be different.

I have noticed that my 9500i mounted high alerts quicker than my STi-R sometimes...I think its mounted to low..I have the antenna mounted below the front plate bracket.It's about a 1.5 feet from the ground..I don't know where else to mount it because the grill and bumper area is too shallow and the antenna sticks way out and looks funny. I guess I'll have to compromise.:confused:

I have my 9500ci antenna mounted 9" off the road and it always picks up before the V1 mounted hi.

I don't know what the issue is...Maybe because the STi-R is scanning everything and the 9500i is only scanning Kband.

It might be that I have mine low enough that it is seeing under most everything in front of me. I have the ci scanning everything too, and the V1 only K and Ka.
