Default Is my speaker dead?? (Vector 995)

Today I was fooling around and decided to try out the earjack feature of my Bel 995. I plugged it into the RD, and turned it on. No sound, so I figured the I should just switch headphones, still no sound. Then I unplug it including the headphones and repower the RD. It powers up fine, but with NO SOUND :-(.

The temperatures have risen and almost hit 90 yesterday, but this morning the sound was fine. I have factory reset the RD, and still nothing. I don't see how it is physically possible to blow a speaker by plugging in earphones.

    Any suggestions/advice?

WARNING: Here is the deal...never plug in an FM transmitter into the earphone jack.

I went and exchanged the one with the dead speaker at Radioshack. I plugged in the FM transmitter into this new one, to see if the old one had a glitch. Nope, I killed another speaker.

I drove to the next nearest Radioshack, 10 mins or so, and got a new one. I am never going to plug a transmitter, or possibly headphones into the ear jack. I'm just really glad I have sound back. 3 detectors in one day, gotta be a record

Never knew this, thanks for the heads up. I probably would have got curious one day and plug some headphones in mines.

I don't know if it is headphones, but the FM transmitter for sure. I thought it would be cool to broadcast alerts the a car or two in front of me, like on trips with friends.
