You and I both know you were using the V1 not as an example but as an opportunity to bash it and express your "opinion" on it (even when no one mentioned it). And I'm not saying you don't have a right to express your opinion but please don't sink so low as to start bashing the V1 and VR when other members are giving criticism on Belscort products/prices (and it's being discussed in the Beltronics forum! LOL). You are better than that and I respect you as a fellow, dedicated countermeasure enthusiast.

And BTW I disagree with what you said about the V1 being a rip off. For me at least, the $400 V1 has provided the same or more protection against all radar threats (especially against QT than my $1600 9500ci.

After using the Escort 8500, Escort Redline, Valentine One, Whistler XTR-690SE and many other past detectors, The Valentine One has the best overall performance that I am looking for and I feel like I got my money's worth. I paid the same amount for my Redline that I paid for my V1, but I still feel like the V1 gives me more useful information and features.

I disagree, though the price may be high for some, its totally normal. Everything being sold today is priced in the same manor. Its not odd, unusual, too high or even out of the ball park. There will always be expensive items just as there will be cheaper items.

$200 pair of jeans, Porsche for $100k, 20k stove, Mac computers ect...

The M3 is a one of a kind, nothing else comes close or provides full stealth, so the demand dictates the price.

I sell Treadmills at 7000+, that sounds outrages compared to Sears, Sports Authority ect.. But its what people will pay to get what they want/need.

Would Escort sell more at a lower price? Maybe? But that's not what dictates price.

STI-R was discontinued because a new model was being introduced, not due to lack of sales. Though it sold less, it served a different purpose.

Just because something apears to be overpriced that doesint mean it is, non of us produce RD's and create there margins. We pick on Escort for there pricing, but what about 20+ year old products that haven't changed much? IMO the V1 is the bigest rip off of them all, $400 for 20 year old technology? It should be priced at $200 tops, but as we all know it praforms top notch so they still rip us off. Total VR greed.

but look at what your getting with the STi-R plus. you are getting a STi with GPS data in a remote form. an STi driver retails for $469.95 (on bels website as of this post) a high level Garmin retails for around $350. (and you get a full function GPS) thats a little over $800

so you are telling me integrating the two together and remotly mounting the radar antenna is worth $500 more dollars? (not to mention you don't get real GPS features just the antenna for red light data) No way and many have said true lock is a joke so lets not even talk about that feature.

and there is a reason there are guys selling belscot product well below MSRP because they are waaaaaaaaaaaaaaay over priced. You can find a brand new 9500Ci for $900-1000 on fleebay (heck my old neighbor could get Belscort products from his wholesaler dirt cheep for brand new units)

the mark up on Belscort products is insane but I guess as long as there are people willing to pay their high prices they will continue to sell them at those inflated prices.

there was nothing different from the STi Driver and the STi-R except a $20 dollar radio shack speaker, separate display, separate controls and some extra wires yet the STi-R was just about double the price!

Right... so still a massive influx of BS with that statement: When I could go to the store and buy a stand-alone GPS unit with a 4.3inch screen, SD expansion card slot w/picture viewer for $125 (That isn't their cost... that is cost to consumer). Consider the topic here being cost to Belscort (producer) when making it... making your claim of $200 is 100(percent) 'obvious stupid'... for lack of a better phrase.

Can you just admit your $200 claim is extremely inaccurate and misleading, and tried to rationalize the Belscort pricing with OBVIOUS incorrect information... because the diarrhea of your fingers at this point is nothing short of astounding.

But we cant buy at Escorts cost, a matter of fact we cant buy at any manufacturers cost. So we are left with 8500=$300 9500IX=$500, which leaves a difference of $200 for the GPS features of the 9500IX and tying it in to the radar portion, which wasn't obvious apparently.

REREAD MY SCENARIO... I am not talking about producer cost with the stand-alone GPS... I WAS talking about consumer cost, and extrapolated that to show BELSCORTs inflated costs.

So (according to your logic) if Escort priced the 9500ix @ $1,000... we must then deduce that it costs Escort $700 to go from a 8500 X50 > 9500ix, so henceforth it must be costing them $700 to make that addition of GPS (to our end)? Just because THEY PRICE IT @ that does not mean it costs that to them, it just means that is the highest price they felt they could screw the consumer out of, yet still sell good amounts of units.

Escort says that the value to the consumer for the monopoly they have is worth $200 (on a high-end radar detector with GPS compared to a high-end unit without it)... this DOES NOT mean that it costs $200, or anywhere near it... it is simply what those blood-sucking vultures feel if the best price-to-product ratio that they can force on consumers IF they want their product.

So no, it likely costs Escort between $25-$75 I am guessing at this point for the GPS functions in all units (non-IQ)... NOT $200.

So when I was adding up the price of the units... (and what it would be with GPS) I was doing it at company cost (where my numbers are far more accurate than your misleading BS). Your pricing comes FROM ESCORT... and the $200 fact was convenient because it simply added up perfectly.

Your pricing method is as follows:
Step 1) Escort sets prices.
Step 2) The products are thus worth that much, and you then must make-up costs to total that number.

As old Emile says about you (not [sic] of course): "If your going to feed society s**t sandwiches everyday, you better have a society of s**teaters." You eat so much of it from Belscort it floods out into the forum through your fingers into posts.

I wish the escort rep would say what the cost is to settle this. Perhaps there's a equation for it. Escort's MSRP is x times the actual cost. Either that, or they feel $500's a good MSRP, which IMO, is reasonable.

So if it's $500 MSRP and it's $250 to make, x equals 2. I'm sure it's more complex than that, as other production factors must be considered. Also, I assume the dealer makes a profit also, not just escort.
