Can u or others describe your real Ontario experiences with the STI? Are you impressed w the range? Falsing etc etc.?
Looking to get one soon for some 401/407/400 driving from Wloo area to Muskoka, or on Huron/Perth county roads (OPP)

Yeah I owuld reall like to know the range,how far ahead are we warned of any and all types of radar,mine should be in today or tomorow weeeeeee.
This is the first quality detector I have owned. I had a whister and a cobra and the cobra falsed alot more. It would false 3 times before I hit the main street by my house.
The STI does not false there at all. It still falses at the shoppers drug mart and at a grocery store.
On the highway between Scarborough and Windsor I got no falses!!!
I have not headed to the cottage yet so I dont know about going futher east yet.
My cobra would false in Pickering (on the 401) 2-3 times so it will be interesting to see if the STI falses there.
As for range it was way more then enough. 2-5kms range no problem on K bamd. I have not encountered any other radar as of yet...
On the way back from Windsor I was doing 150-170kph and hit 180 acouple of times. My rabbit was really moving (chrysler cirrus he was doing 155 and getting everyone out of my way)
4 speed traps before I got to london and nothing the rest of the way home and one cop not transmitting.
Thx for the review but I think you need to note that automatic door openers are not "falses". They operate legitimately on the police radar frequencies so your RD should alert to them if not be worried.
A false is an alert to a threat which is not transmitting on that frequency. ie my Rx-65 alerts laser when I get a call on my cell.
On your way through Pickering I predict you will get a K band alert as you approach Whites Road which will be sustained as you go under the overpass and about 200 metres doiwn the 401. Source 3 car dealerships on Kingston Rd. It appears to be a legit threat because it lasts longer than your typical door alert.
Eh everyone wants a new defintion of false :lol: Fewer false positive alerts with the STI as opposed to Cobra perhaps?Quote:

Yes I've officially joined the tech head group :lol: But if you judge the quality of the RD by the times it doenst alert to door openers you are mis judging it
Yes you have to go for the tradeoff between sensitivity and selectivity. It's all up to what you can deal with as a driver. Personally I was relatively pleased with the selectivity of my Sensoro, just an occasional X report. The K/Ka misidentification is annoying however. And sensitivity was mediocre. I want to have a big quantum leap in performance of the STi, considering that I'm going to pay more than an order of magnitude more for it ($450 vs $30!)Quote:

All this talk about STI in ontario is getting me excited. I hope Roy gets to start shipping them this week. I really miss having an RD and the bonus with this one i won't have to rip it appart and hide it in my stereo! I Just can't wait for this puppy!
