Engine Swap, decisions decisions.......

there actually is a dealership like 5 miles from me that has a red gen 2 CL type-S, it looks REAL nice, but at 20,000 a bit much 4 me

yes I agree I like the looks of the 1st gen CLs over the 2nd gen, best part is that all the engine bay parts use accord parts so theyre for the most part CHEAP

that Camaros made in canada thing is kinda cool to know, I love Canada, the people and the well EVERYTHING i like it over America, but Ive only been to BC while I was living in Seattle, I have no idea what its like in your neak of the woods

Canada is a great country but is extremely diverse, since it's so big... BC is nothing like Alberta which is nothing like Ontario which isn't like Quebec which isn't like the Maritimes... Kinda like Texas vs. California vs NYS vs Montana etc.

The 1993 - 2002 Camaro and Firebird were built in the now-defunct Boisbriand, Quebec GM plant which first broke ground in the 1960's to make the "Canadian Pontiac", like the Acadian Beaumont and Parisienne... basically rebadge Chevrolets...

right in that diversity issue the US and Canada are very much alike, but I like how in Canada they all blend together to more-or-less make 1 culture, in the US theyre all different which can be good until you hit my ever so favorie the 'language barrier' ive run into too many people that just assume that I speak spanish or chinese or something out of the 'ordinary' (English and a bit of Japanese for me)

post up the power curves and the gear split and we can really start figuring out what's a good engine for your car.. :lol:


HP and Torque mean nothing until you see how they actually flow in the graph.

Im pretty sure its the same with the cl as the accord. In the 5th gen accord if you have a 6cyl the engine bay is longer then the 4 cyl version. So going from the f series to the 6cyl is a great deal of work. Plus its not even worth it. For what you can do with your f22b and FI or a h22 it is not cost effective. And the 6 cyl accord in that gen is about equal to the 4 cyl. And good luck finding a manual transmission for that j series. Go to hondatech.com and do some research.

Agreed. You run big HP with little torque you're going to lose your bottom end. That means that you're going to have to tax the engine with high RPM and excess wear to get any power at all... plus you're going to have to wait for the powerband. This is why the S2000 sucks balls. Bottom line is that anybody should be able to get 250hp out of anything if they spin it at 9K.

well with the 1st gen CLs their V6 is the J30A, while the 5th gen accords (94-97) use the C27 a 90 degree 2.7 V6

BTW i have an Automatic and i intend to keep it that way no manual tranny is needed besides I dont think honda made manuals for their V6s until the latest gen accord

ill work on finding the power bands though thats a REALLY good idea that I never thought of
