Just buy an amp kit. If your new to it, then do the install with someone experienced. too many people try and do it their first time and end up messing up, big time.
Power wire (with Fuse)

yeah just go out and but an Amp kit, it'll be cheaper than all the part separately....... itll have everything you need except maybe a batery terminal..... I just put a ring terminal on it and strapped it to the battery that way.. now its ghetto rigged in a way that only Optima does it...... i'll try to get pic of it on here BUT IT IS GHETTO
youd probably only need an 8 gauge kit, but if you are planning to upgrade later just buy a 4 gauge kit, maybe a multi amp kit with all the distribution block and stuff in it.... install is relatively easy for a person that knows what theyre doing....... but if youve got no clue, just let the pros handle it
In the picture, it appears as though the amp is directly connected to the battery source. Wouldn't that mean that the amp will always be on? How do I make it so that the amp will only be on when the car is on Accessories or On?Quote:

exactly. or you can go to Best Buy or someplace, and ask em what wire coming out of the stock HU can be used as a remote wire. I had to do this on my buddies 03 GT.Quote:

if your using the stock deck, your gunna need a line-out converter so you can hook up your RCA's. generally, you need to pop off some trim pieces, maybe unbolt some bolts. you may possibly need a special key for it, then youd have to go to an audio shop and have em take it out. you have to go through the firewall to get to your battery. but dude seriously, if you dont knwo what your doing, dont try and do it by yourself. its just not a good idea. youll end up getting shocked, frying wires, blowing fuses, and messing up your system.
had you said 97 Corolla I wouldve been able to give a step-by-step for ya, but in this case I have no idea, I only know the cars ive had to install decks on myself............. now in this case since you did save some money on the subs and since a line-out converter does cost a pretty penny (Yes, its like 30 bucks ish, but thats alot to a college student).. anyways my point is just to get a good head unit......... oh and I forgot also, some amp kits... well MOST amp kits dont come with the signal (RCA) cables or the Speakerwire (Amp-to box) so you'll have to buy some of that too.. in all if its just the subs, youre lookin at probably 100 bucks running 8 gauge......... but again running the wires can get pretty tricky if you dont know what youre doing so you might wanna look into professional install

Keep trying to find out how to install it into my car myself, risking damaging my own car.
So I decided to do the 175 since I paid 0 for the subs.
