Maybe on the 924... People stick 350's into everything and anything, and 350's are good. 4,3's are pretty good on a truck but hard to really get bolt-on power upgrades on that. The 924 engine was a VW piece of crap from the VW LT van and the AMC Gremlin... the 944 engine was a much better more powerful unit, loosely designed as 1/2 a 928 V8. A Chevy 350 might make it spicier.

the 944 turbos go like a rocket. sevicing is cheap if you diy it...
the only expensive things are the clutch, gearbox, and engine if they go wrong....... obviously a clutch is cheap but labour will be high, but on saying that the same applies to new cars with crammed engines!

The flash, I looked at Porsches the other day and wow what a nice car. 6-speed transmission! If I drove that car, I would have to have my V1 in the front window and my Bel in the rear. Here in MI, a couple of Porsches were racing on I-131 at over 130mph and one of them hit a Mercury Sable and the thing flipped over 4 times. I guess the Porsche drivers had their licenses taken and now they can't drive. Remember, be careful driving one of those "fast" cars. I will admit, I would probably get in trouble having that kind of car. I wonder what insurance costs for a Porsche? Does anyone know? Mk
The 944 is one of the easiest cars in the world for a novice driver to drive fast in. They are well balanced and transition well in both cornering and braking.
As noted, the DIY guy can do many of the maintence and repair work....not that complicated but working room is the tough part.
The Turbo S models are both quick to 60...low 5's...1/4 mile 14 flat and fast....to 160+ mph stock.
You can mod these quite easily to really do some more serious pavement consumption.
