Maybe you should check out and see if your area uses analog or digital system, and purchase a Scanner, that way you know when an and where an officer is shotting radar or laser. Just an idea.Quote:

I have also noticed State Troopers patrolling Powers Blvd lately, so I am hoping to borrow a signal from one of them soon to test THAT range. :)
I did confirm -- it's digital. :(Quote:

OK, I made a run against a different K-Band Your Speed sign this afternoon. This one is on Constitution Ave, just west of Powers Blvd here in the Springs. There is a half-mile of straightaway before this sign, unlike the other two I used, but it sits at the top of a steep hill. So I was travelling from east to west, going UP about a 4%-5% incline. I got my first alert on the Pro-78 about a second before rounding the corner, .55 miles from the sign. This may not seem like much, but considering the sign is actually just OVER a crest in the hill and not visible from the start of the straightaway, I'd say it's a significant distance. No LEO could have seen or targeted me from the position of the sign, so I had PLENTY of room to slow down. In fact, you can't see the sign until you're about .25 miles from it.
The signal ramped up VERY nicely, starting at 3 bars and going to a full strength signal about .2 miles from the sign. I made two runs, and both had the exact same result. I ran the Pro-73 against this a few weeks back and it didn't alert until I was .3 or so from the sign, definitely not before I rounded the bend.

I STILL haven't found a Ka source to run against. Grrrrr!!!
And I was having trouble figuring out why the RD was dim at night without me pushing a button to dim it. I had it set to auto-dim, which I assumed would dim the RD when it alerted. Instead, it is a setting that AUTOMATICALLY goes to dim when it senses it's dark. VERY NICE FEATURE. No more fidgeting with it while driving.
thanks for the update!
The whistler pro 78 stands up tall next too the escort 9500i and the escort 8500X50...Pro 78 is a great performer-I personally like the tones....the tones for like the X band k band and Ka band and laser...they are all different noises for each. My escorts the tones all sounds too close. I favor my escorts more...but i don't know why i do....maybe it's because of the price of them and seem heavy and more expensive...unlike the whister products look cheap and too flashy. My girlfriend says i seem to like using my pro 78 the most...Whistler pro 78 is awesome and reliable.
