Many people make this mistake. But a "Forward-Facing" test is not the same as rear detection, and V1's rear antenna does not come into play.

That's funny, same here.
I wonder how many of us were ready to reply (about the forward facing test being an entirely different thing from rear detection), but hadn't finished editing our messages (I had some comments about the foam, but decided the matter has been discussed enough in the off-axis thread anyway).

Didn’t the 9500I do better than all other RD's on the GOL Forward-Facing test test in March?

Yes, in the March 2007 forward facing test the 9500i in question (earlier build) edged out the STI for first place and beat all the rest by a decent percentage.
Thanks for reminding me of one thing my post (that I scrapped after Jim had already replied in the interim) was going to contain.

I recently returned a 9500i for a refund (I actually exchanged it for a new X50). My one & only complaint was the ramp up was so poor it made the unit totally unaceptable to me especially for the price. I see that nothing has changed in that regard.

If Escort would get off their butt & fix this problem, I would buy another 9500i on the spot.

Seems like no matter what sort of test is done the V1 is consistently the king. However, the battle for 2nd and 3rd seems to trade back and fourth between the STi, X50, and 9500i. I know the foam has been beaten to death, but it really seems to effect the outcome of 2nd and 3rd place. Do we know what was changed by Escort? I mean officially was a change made? I just wish Escort would fix the ramp up!!!
