Thanks Veil. All I can say is I survived two wars to tell my grandkids about (if and when there are any). And I'm sure you know where those blessings came from.Quote:

As with any test or review it's invariable that somebody will question the way something was done or not done. Although it is quite valid to raise questions, we must not lost sight of two important considerations. information was given for all of us to evaluate, digest and compare. And Second, this was information we would not have had but for the Veil Guy's efforts. Regardless of what you may think of the review, results and/or conclusion let us not lose sight of the fact that these tests took a lot of time and effort.
On my part, I thank you Veil Guy.
The test conducted by Mr. Veil is what inspired me to buy the 8500 X50's I dropped some coin on earlier in the month.
I would have liked to buy them from this site, but being the impulsive MF'er I am I had to get them "right now" and went to bestbuy.
Perhaps I will make it up by directing some of my co-workers over here for their needs, along with buying accessories.
Great review, very very tactful responses to beamer guy, and regarding that M3 review where it beat out those cars. Please pass the crack pipe the reviewers were smoking that day.
I'll never forget when a 6 cylinder 3 series was reviewed against a CLK430 V8 275HP Mercedes, and those fools picked the BMW.
After I read that along with some of the other trash, I stopped reading that rag, and I own a Jaguar!! LOL
Cheers
Thats great! How is your Ford ? Is that ford taurus frame holding up? hehQuote:

Veil Guy – your test doesn’t say if you did any motoring in the Z4 with the top down. (From the temperatures you had I would guess not.) That vehicle has a very small rear window. I was wondering if performance could be affected by placement of the units with the top up or if performance was enhanced by putting the top down? Obviously this is more of a factor picking up signals from the rear, and you didn’t get many of them.
Occasionally we did motor with the top down.
I don't believe that the top up or down would have made much of a difference as I don't think radar is the least affected by glass, plastic, or the rag-top.
During our trip [in the West] Lisa and I only encountered one rear radar encounter at a distance and strength that would have pegged all detectors.
We were saved by the traffic we were in and not the detectors.
Welcome to the forum!

How come alot of people don't like the RX65 it seems like the best detector out their! How about the X50 do you think that's a better detector then the RX65? Most people on this website own the V1,
I don't know why. I drove with a V1 one time in a Civic, I went down
the street and the thing went off the whole time. It was so annoying
I was thinking who would pay $400 for this! Then I thought maybe
alot of people like the arrows but the arrows seem pointless because radar is in front of you most of the time. The rear antena seems
good but how many cops really come from behind. If your going
down the street and a cop is a mile away it's should tell you
radar ahead, then when you pass him for a second it should say
radar on the sides and when your behind him it should say radar
behind. In my opinion I think the arrows wouldn't make that much
of a differance thena radar detector without them. Radar Roy's tests shows he likes the X50 the best then the RX65. If I had a choice of
what detector to buy I would by the RX65 or the X50. Someone tell me
how the V1 is better, other then the arrows!
