One was an upgrade, the other was not.

Cobra has extreme tunnel vision !
True, but the $500 9500ix didn't do much better compare to the cheap $100 cobra. That's why I'm interested to see what the top on the line cobra can do before we continue bashing cobra.

Exactly. The 'bang for the buck' factor clearly favours the Cobras and Whistlers, and these results will redefine our responses to those looking for budget detectors. And that happens to be the majority of n00bs who come here, which is a big market.
Re: GOL 2009 Radar WRAPPED UP!!!!!!!!
Maybe GOL will include a High end Cobra with the Redline on there follow up test. I really wanted to know what the Radar Ghost would do. They advertise best detector on the market by Radarshield LOL

Agreed, I'm no longer going to recommend a refurb 8500 to a newbie that is on a budget. Whistler 690 SE will be my new recommendation.

No More Bel 955 either ;)
Re: GOL 2009 Radar WRAPPED UP!!!!!!!!
Looking over the results again, the 9500ix is about the same as the cobra on the off axis 33.8 band. Hell, even the over priced sti failed. The only radar to prove useful for extreame off axis is the v1. I for one hate cobra for causing false one the road, but feelings aside, I'm starting to believe. The overall rating of the cobra is just under the GOLD STANDARD in radar, which is the x50. Price wise is $100 cobra vs $300 x50.

It's going to be hard for me to recommend any M4 Escort for a while. Whistler/Valentine stole the show at GOL. Escort didn't step up. Period.

Was there testing done with the V1 with the KA guard on and the KA guard off? I would like to know how much of a difference disabling this feature which most people would never do increased performance
X2, if its not much difference it won’t matter but if its a 20% increase its worth the extra falsing.
