Agreed. I've taken my X50 down off the dash and placed it on the floor and it still gives laser falses. It appears to have nothing to do with light emissions at all. It's all from radiated energy. Since it's not laser hitting the detector, you'd think Escort could have built better protection around the sensor to protect against radiated energy.

Can you turn off laser on an X50? I thought you could only turn off Pop and X band. (I know, I know, RTFM.) :oops:

Yes. In the "prefs" section go to "bands" and select Laser off.

That stretch of road is my favorite for testing X-band, as the enforcement (as you well know) is particularly fierce!

Now that they are using laser, its even more treacherous to drive that stretch of I78.

Years ago, I once got hit with a blast of instant-on X from a State Trooper from the opposite lanes of travel.

That area is no joke.

Funny thing happened a couple years back when I was testing the V1, 8500, an RX65 in this area. When I was writing some notes on the side of the road, two state troopers pulled-up behind with their lights on, curious as to what I was doing. When they saw the three detectors mounted on the windshield they started "freaking."

When I told them what I was doing, things settled down, but at first they thought they were tagging some kind of mega speeder. :lol:

I had the same experience years ago but on the NJ Turnpike. I was parked in the shoulder by Newark International getting Laser hits. The Trooper pulled up behind me. I pretended to be lost :roll: looking at my Toll stub.

do you know if the production models display speed over 127MPH?

I thought I read here in this forum that an owner of a later production model indicated that they did not, at least in his version.

I am sure it's just a matter of time until they get around to it.

WHy have so many returned their 9500i? I just got mine yesterday and not had a chance to try it out yet.

Try it out for a few weeks. Please come back and give us feedback. Try not to read this forum so you can form your own opinions first.
