Anyone ever seen any tests done with how much the factory tint strip on the windshield effects radar sensitivity? If I get an STi Driver I'm going to mount it up high, if its the GPS 9500i that I keep, I'm going to keep it down low...

I borrowed my friend's 9500i last month for 2 weeks and i mounted the 9500i above my RVM. I have a factory blue tint and never gave me problems. The only thig i noticed is that, when you power it up the first time, it takes longer for GPS to confirm aquisition - takes more than 20 sec. at times. The next time you do it though will only take 8-10 sec. In my opinion, the blue tint did not bother the performance - got the same distance from speed sign above or below RVM. Also noted that i use my X50 and V1 sitting on top of the RVM all the time hardwired because it pick ups radar better that way and is not visible from others.Originally Posted by Nexeo
I have never had an issue with the blue tint strip interfering with RADAR reception, only laser.
I rented a Ford that had a dichroic windshield defroster that was very problematic - it had a tint strip too but you could tell it had something else added to the otherwise clear area of the windshield.
