I had problems with my 8500 x50 and many others have had problems with the Bel's and Escort x50's. The most frustrating part is dealing with their customer service when you have questions or want an answer. Are you looking at the 8500 or the x50? I did not hear as many complaints about the 8500, but in my opinion you still have to deal with their Customer Service Dept, so it is not worth it.
Remember the 8500 and x50 are not able to detect KU band should it every be a reality so it may be something to think about when making a decision. The V1, Bel995 and rx65 have the ability to detect KU built into their hardware already.
It isn't really a hardware issue, more of a software issue. They could turn on KU band detection easily on the X50.
My point is it does not come with KU detection and it would cost money to have it "turned" on. I also agree with LS1-Camaro that an upgrade is unlikely.
Radar Roy said that there will be a upgrade for the X50 to detect KU band once it becomes a issue in the U,S.
Right, because he calls the shots at escort? I am not saying it will not happen, just look at the 5 year track record. MAybe if ehnough people demand it it may hppen,

Great. Another thing for the X50 to false on.

Why pay for an upgrade when the rx65, v995 or the V1 already have KU band. I believe Roy was told that, but I am not sure I would take that chance going strictly on past history of upgrades from Belscort. My revision 5 update was $50 not including shipping. How much more to add another radar band? If these detectors are close to the same price you would be losing money to upgrade what you can buy now in one of the other 3.
