There are no changes to the antenna. The M3 used in the Flatline is the exact same antenna as in the Sti, Sti-R and 9500ci. The only difference is in the software.
As for the FCC ID, the first 3 letters are assigned to Escort, the last digits/letters are the product identifier. Since this is a "new" product, it gets a new FCC ID.
actually the FCC does not give out new numbers unless the antenna has changed. Look at Whistler, the SE series are new but seeing as it is the same antenna as the older pro 78 but different firmware they didn't have to get a new number. And I have seen pictures inside of the new redline horn and the sti horn and they are different.
Looks like we're at a standoff!!! :p
1) You believe that the Redline has a new antenna, hence the new FCC ID
2) I believe the antennas are the exact same, the only change in FCC ID is a result of this being repackaged as a new "product."
Anyone else care to side with one or the other position?

Re: REDLINE, V1, X50, STi Testing VIDEO.
Since the company likes to switch to cheaper parts.....they might have just did that and needed to register it with the FCC, but that is just a wild guess.

I believe jerry540i is correct in that this could be the exact same antenna as in the STI but would require a New FCC ID authorization under the Escort Inc brand.
I do agree, however, with Languy99 that there is a subtle difference between the RedLine and STI antennas based on photos registered with the FCC. The RedLine's K/Ka LOs appear more like the STi-R with what appears to be additional amps that are not present in the STI M3 photos. Aside from that, there could also be better quality components which are impossible to discern in these photos.
I'd have to believe the difference between the sensitivity of the STI and the 9500ci/STi-R is more than just software..........unless we think being behind a windshield alone makes up the whole difference.
I don't think there is much if any difference between the RedLine M3 and the 9500ci/STi-R. That is great news in that both the 9500ci and STi-R are both premium priced / premium range detectors. Any difference in performance between these three I do attribute to antenna placement and attenuation of the Radar signal by the windshield.
NOTE: The STi-R has the same SMD's in the center of the K and Ka LO transmission lines which are not present in the STI photos.

Re: REDLINE, V1, X50, STi Testing VIDEO.
My main question is can the redline actually compare to the V1 on laser detection or is it as useless as my 9500ix?

Not a chance, the Valentine is the king of laser detection, followed by whistler.

They're all useless on laser.

Whistler? I have never heard that they have better laser performance than other brands. I agree with the other posters laser warning is almost useless, but unless the newer models do alot better than the older ones it's seems like Whistler is near the bottom for laser detection. Here are some of the Veil guys test results.

Sorry, I guess the legend would be helpful. :) ( I added it to the previous post) I would just post the link to the Veil guys site but I am afraid it would break some of the rules. If you go to his site the Belscorts did just as good if not better, and of course the V1 was the best.

Re: REDLINE, V1, X50, STi Testing VIDEO.
I'm aware that being alerted prior to a laser trap is near impossible. But if you market something that says:
"Next Gen Laser Detection
RedLine's multiple laser sensors are strategically positioned to detect even the smallest amount of laser light, including off-axis signals."
I would expect it to alert to most legitimate laser encounters / sources. The V1 has proven to do this and is used commonly along side a jammer. I was just curious if this claim can be backed up or not. If so, then they are trying to market a more expensive, sometimes better on K and Ka band, directionless radar detector.

Escort marketing is a joke. See the spoiler in my sig for some of their Redline hype.
They just hired a new Marketing VP yesterday ... got him from General Motors, LOL.

It's very easy to tear apart many of the remarks on the Valentine Research website as well. Each company needs to market their products. Each can be misleading without being untruthful.
Let's not forget how many times Valentine refused to acknowledge "Pop" as a legitimate feature. Once they finally added the feature they stated how important it is.

I always thought this picture on the site was funny, in that situation no matter what RD you have you are getting a ticket. And why does the radar stop when it hits the 360 protection zone, wish my V1 would do that. Both companies have some goofy marketing.

Re: REDLINE, V1, X50, STi Testing VIDEO.
Personally,
I read & read & read this thread.
All I'm hearing is that over 9/10th of the post on this thread concerning
Redline is bias towards V1. I'm not hearing anything unbias towards Redline
detector. Even though, 2 different excellent reviewers.
(Namely Radar Roy and SpeedTraphunter) reviewed in there situations that
Redline out performed V1 hands down.
Now, Fact 1
These videos shows the exact same route.
Fact 2 how do we know that whether this person acknowledges it or not intentionally pushed the same route.
You get in the car, and hook up the detectors. Then you find a point
where the V1 is beating the Redline indefinitely. Then you go on and video tape
this incident. Then decide to show the public this view point.
All I'm seeing is the exact same ride through.
Now, there are a ton of V1 supporters on this forum that I notice.
This is fine, but there comes a time that one should be neutral and fair.
I'm not seeing this within these threads even though 1 Expert Professional
whom opinion I value (Radar Roy)
&
another whom seem to be very accurate as well
(SpeedTraphunter)
In both of there videos they both acknowledge the Redline out perform V1.
This is what I'm really saying here. This is my most important line of this
whole point. Why not be fair, and let more Redline Vs V1 Tapes come to the forefront. Then review them fairly against one another.
NOT on the same piece of Landmark doing the same route over and over again.
That is not a fair review.
That is like Radar Roy reviewing 1 of the few times V1 alerted over the Redline, and then say. Hey, let me video tape it and run this route several more times on tape. This one tape proves nothing to me because there are 2 to 3 other
reviewers where the Redline has beaten V1 Detector.
Now if you all wish to use the regular civilians reviewers find with me.
Show me the proof, facts, and tapes of Redline & V1.
Not going around the same route over and over again, but many many
streets, different Highways, areas, forest, plains, mountains and States,.

Radar Roy is a great guy but why would he want to show the V1 beating Bels and Escorts when he doesn't sell the V1? I believe that the VeilGuy was given a Redline before they were even released so it could have been juiced or the cream of the crop off of the assembly line at Escort. You are a newbie and you have yet to realize that Bel and Escort usually talk alot of crap but don't back it up with performance.
They claimed that the Escort 8500 was better than the V1...not true...the Escort 8500 X50 had 50% better blah blah than the V1...not true...the Escort 9500i and Escort 9500ix are the latest technological GPS blah blabbity blah...not better than the V1. Here comes the Redline with turbocharged, supercharged, Charles In Charge, nitrous oxide injected, hyper speed technology to capture cops without radar on...not true as usual so you should understand why people back the V1 because it has been #1 since 1992.
If you don't believe the respected forum members then that is your problem. Go out and buy a V1 and Redline and experience the Escort QT fail and watch the V1 perform on the same level as the Redline for $100 cheaper and it comes with arrows and a rear radar antenna.

Re: REDLINE, V1, X50, STi Testing VIDEO.
Yes I am new to Radar Detection that is a Fact.
I am new on this forum that is also a fact.
I am quite old when it comes to fairness, and getting others
to see it more neutral. Especially here on the Internet.
As far as that concern I may be older than half on this forum
concerning internet.
I indeed love your points, you are right.
I feel V1 deserve the following that it has
I feel that V1 is a super powerful detector.
I also feel this detector known as the Redline will issue
a coming. Okay, Escort, made mistakes in the past.
I'm sure V1 has made some to.
No, I don't think it is hype like many of you claiming it is.
No, I don't think this will be another over hype detector like
the past.
All I'm saying is show verified proof by showing full video.
Not a video that is doing the same route, or trip over and over.
Show me a trip vs each other traveling through Mountains.
On a long Highway trip, through the forest, back roads,
country roads, city streets.
Don't show me the same route over and over.
Now whomever showed this video, I am honored and blessed.
At least it started this ball game rolling.
Now it is time for a fair DUEL.
V1 & Redline should be tested.
Not just base on one person opinion or drive through but several.
(Radar Roy whom I trust and SpeedTrapHunter both acknowledge
Redline pull more before the V1 did.)
This video showing it for V1, which is a unfair same route.
Anyone with intelligence can get in there car. Drive all around a city or country side to find a spot. Where one Detector can go over before the other.
that is why this is not a fair setup. To be fair, you will have to drive, drive, drive and drive like Radar Roy and SpeedTrapHunter does.
Now, this is what it should really be about.
Both detectors being reviewed by more than one person doing more than
one route. This is the way it should be.
Even though I'm new, I am not new to bringing facts and points in a chat room or forum setting. I'm definitely not new to following Radar Roy because I've followed him since 2004, and
I'm not new to bringing up facts in a forum, done so since mid 90's.
I'm more like a watcher
I read the forums on and off, and only sign up when it is the right time to speak. I feel this is one of those times.
Enough of that though,
All I'm really asking for is further reviews, proof and Facts

ReVeal,
First off, welcome to the forum.
Secondly, it is a good idea to do some searching here before you post comments.
Thirdly, Airmoore and I both stated that it was a K band speed sign (yes, the same sign) that we made multiple runs against. We were not being bias against the Redline but merely showing a performance comparison in this specific situation. We did this to prove a point regarding all the hoopla that surrounded the introduction of the Redline. It is hyped as better than the V1 handsdown and off the V1 charts performance wise. Guess what, it's not. I had it in my truck for almost a week, and 1900 miles, in my experiences it ain't all that. Also, I am and have been an escort customer for a long time.
Again, welcome to the forum.

Yeah I read that it was the same passageway or trip.
Lets be honest here, all I'm hearing is a bias opinions.
Everyone that speaks out for V1 are mainly V1 backers.
So of course you all going to make statements comments benefiting
the V1. All I'm hearing is arrows which is good thing.
Sensitivity which is a good thing.
So far, but which one is going off more times than the V1.
The Redline has on all videos pound to pound put together.
Okay V1, has maybe won in the quick trigger setup.
It is not the Redline haven't pulled it off at least a little.
Redline has RDD, which the V1 doesn't.
To me, both of these cancel each other out.
Now lets have a real complete test amongst all the Civilian testers.
Testing these detectors against one another on more than one trip to be
fair. Trips spanning miles, miles of proven facts.
Personally, I think your opinion is bias towards the V1.
Even though you driven 1900 miles with it, produce the tape so we all
can see some of it. Show the tape in the forum so we can see the
V1 going off before the Redline more often.
Then I will be saying that is more fair. Especially when I see others bring
forth there Tapes as well. This forum needs someone that is more neutral like me.
Not someone whom just going to believe what someone says just because
it is typed or shown one trip over and over on the forum.
Even though, you are a Escort owner that doesn't
mean you back Redline.
I am very grateful for you taking the time out to produce the video.
I personally appreciate the video and definitely will love to see more trips like this except showing a more complete drive. There is probably a place, some place in the United States. That any Modern day detector, at least one place.
Will go off before another detector if you search hard enough.
So lets please bring forth more complete trips, and more of these so we all can see. I'm going to stick with Radar Roy & SpeedTrapHunter, hearing them say oh the Redline went off now the V1 shortly thereafter words.
Over anyone else words on here until we get more further videos of them together. Not same runs all the time over over, complete runs.

Much to learn you have newb, much to learn you do.
1)Your assertion is that KaPro is for some-reason bias TOWARDS the V1 which he doesn't even own. He has in the passed, but has since moved onto the Bel Sti. Why in the world would he have any reason to back the V1.
2) Your assertion is I back the V1..... OBVIOUSLY you haven't been on here for very long at all... BV and I had near wars about V1 vs Escort detectors... him being pro V1, and I being pro Belscort... of course I owned, and currently own both (certain Belscorts anyways), so I ehhhmmm ahhh NVM. ;)
3) The videos don't lie? The Redline IMO hasn't out performed the V1 on any margin of 'off the charts' on any tests I have seen.
4) KaPro puts more miles on his truck with radar detectors then most anyone I know on this forum, and I know for a fact that where he was driving with the Redline, he covered virtually every sort of environmental terrain that is possible, and some of the toughest enforcement tactics known to us in the hobby (IE: NYST).
5) YOUR neutral? Your not even known on the forum, your a joker at this point... where are all of your tests vs the V1/X50/Sti/Redline etc? If your the only one out there who can be unbiased? When I see your videos, then I will take heed of your word.
6) How does Spectre immunity and arrows cancel each other out? The Spectre immunity is useless to most all members of the forum, and the spectre immunity can be had for ~$30 less on the Sti... which seems to have similar detection.
I see Ban him posts coming.

ReVeal,
First off, welcome to the forum.

Where is this comment coming from?? I never said your name Once.
Show and prove that I mention your name. I never said whom back whom or did what. This number 2 statement your making is off base. You come at me like that, you will get wrath back. Trust me: Your name never came on this forum especially form me saying AirMoore backs V1. Answer me this: Is that you in the car in the Video????
2) Your assertion is I back the V1..... OBVIOUSLY you haven't been on here for very long at all... BV and I had near wars about V1 vs Escort detectors... him being pro V1, and I being pro Belscort... of course I owned, and currently own both (certain Belscorts anyways), so I ehhhmmm ahhh NVM.
This number 3 is BS. I seen other videos that prove otherwise.
You can make this comment from till now till the end of year.
I ask for proven facts. By further videos, if you can't handle that don't come
in the kitchen
3) The videos don't lie? The Redline IMO hasn't out performed the V1 on any margin of 'off the charts' on any tests I have seen.
This proves nothing: The fact that you willing come at me like this further proves you for ONE! Maybe not Kapro and I will continue to go down the line.
this proves you! are not bias. You do not want a fair assessment period.
I read your comments, many of you them and you are not in favor of Redline.
Proves I'm a JOKER?? I'm just the only appears not afraid to stand up to you all. I have no problem doing it, I'm asking for FACTS. Further test.
That is all I'm asking and gave credit to the video. I'm getting tired of hearing you all go on and on about V1 this and that and not giving Redline a fair chance... period.
5) YOUR neutral? Your not even known on the forum, your a joker at this point... where are all of your tests vs the V1/X50/Sti/Redline etc? If your the only one out there who can be unbiased? When I see your videos, then I will take heed of your word.
Your 6th Post proves you are a Joke. I never said Arrows on the V1 cancel each other out. I said the Quicktrigger and Spectre is actuality cancels. Period because they both lead to you getting a ticket.
That is just a fact. Now read your 6th post, no where did I said arrows were canceled out by anything. I said quickTrigger. Now let me know now, if the Arrows on the V1 are QuickTrigger, let me know now, and I will stand corrected. If the QuickerTrigger and the arrows are different then my point is well proven.
6) How does Spectre immunity and arrows cancel each other out? The Spectre immunity is useless to most all members of the forum, and the spectre immunity can be had for ~$30 less on the Sti... which seems to have similar detection.
I see Ban him posts coming.
WOW I should be ban for asking for a fair assessment.

You "seen" other videos but those videos are by SpeedTrapHunter aka VeilGuy who is a very smart guy and a respected member of this forum. He received a Redline before they were officially released so it could have been juiced or the cream of the crop pulled off of the assembly line. You keep talking about all of those videos like they are proof that the Redline owns the V1 but that isn't reality. Reality is that you shouldn't test more than one detector at a time because they interfere with each other and the Redline was not a blind purchase so you can't trust the results.
Everybody may seem cynical to you when it comes to new Escort and Bel products but that is based on the reality of what we have already seen from Belscort. The Escort 8500 was advertised as being upgradeable to the latest threats then the Escort 8500 X50 came out but you couldn't upgrade your 8500 to the 8500 X50. The 8500 X50 was advertised as being upgradeable to the latest threats then along came the Escort 9500i and you couldn't upgrade again. Then came the Escort 9500ix so everybody wanted to upgrade their Escort 9500i to it but Escort failed to mention beforehand that it would cost you something like $140.
Escort also advertised how the Escort 8500 X50 had full POP radar detection but it really only detected 67 ms Ka POP radar about 40% of the time and 67 ms K POP radar 0% of the time. We know that Craig Peterson from RadarTest.com is a shill for Belscort products and was caught redhanded trying to screw up the GOL testing so we have seen how a big company operates. It's amazing that Belscort knows what this dummy did but they still have his "unbiased" reviews on their sites.
It is human nature to not believe what big companies like Belscort tell you because they want to sell, sell, sell you any and everything from $300-$1600 as long as you open your wallet today. I don't believe anything unless I see it in videos and testing from multiple people on this forum and not from a person with a pre-released product or an individual that sells radar detectors.
You say that Spectre and QT cancel each other out? Having a detector that is undetectable by Spectre is only useful if you live in one state or you are a big truck driver. The ability to detect QT is useful in every state because every cop could potentially use it and you would never detect it with a Belscort.
I hope you hang around so that you can see who the respected members of this forum are because you have much to learn young grasshopper.:)

I can't even begin to formulate a response to your criticisms and skepticism, with the exception of reciting what BullyDawg19 suggested:
Search.
Do your homework, do your reading.
There's no conspiracy here.
There's no anti-Escort agenda.
If you choose not to believe the videos of our fellow hobbyists, that's fine - and yes, there's always the potential that such videos have been "doctored," but if that's how you choose to see thngs, then you cannot admit ANY such videos as unquestionable evidence, be it in favor of your arguments, or against.
At some point, you will have to simply trust in the credibility and honor of the known fixtures in our community.
The recognized legitimate hobbyist groups such as the GOL, trusted insiders like VEIL Guy, established enthusiasts such as ELVATO, Cbr, Airmoore and KaPro (BTW, thanks, you two, for taking the time and effort for the vids on this thread!!! :))
Or else, you will simply have to discount everything.
And if the latter is the case, then only one logical question remains:
Why are you here at all?
Yes, you're right - some of those who have been contributing to these threads are V1 "Zombies."
But given how Escort marketed the RedLine as a "King of the Road," as a "V1 killer," and how the select pre-release hype built things up to be, I think that it's only fair that these fanboys and fangals have their day in the sun, to gloat over the fact that the RedLine is *NOT* all that it was claimed to be. Heck, if I were in their tribe, more than likely, even I wouldn't be able to resist a "see, I told you so!"
However, if you look closely, you'll also see that some of the RedLine's harshest critics - the ones who express the biggest disappointment for its currently observed performance - are also true long-time supporters of Escort's products.

I don't think Veil Guy got suckered with a juiced unit. The RedLine in his videos looks to be on par with videos posted by other members.......ie. no 13 mile detections and the V1 still alerts first on several occasions.

+1 You forgot TSR. Customers with the ESP Gold package get free upgrades to new radar threats. But since TSR is technically not a real threat......just an annoyance......pay up buddy.

POP never really took off as they expected but what the heck......they still put it on every one of their RDs. QT is not an approved method of obtaining speed readings.........just tell this to the POPO and they will let you go.

I have no problem buying a new RD every 2-3 years as long as there is real advancement and features in the offering. Consider it my donation to the continued improvement of Radar/Laser detection. I agree that they should dispense with the empty promises of "upgradibility" (is that a word?). Props to Mr. V for his way of doing business though.......thats old school.
