I believe the LEO showed the OP how the gun works after the citation was issued. (They shot cars together afterward)
Re: Escort Radar Detectors
Nope, I've never had a speeding ticket issued to me in the state of Colorado. The only time I've received "paper" was in the form of a written warning by the THP right outside of Knoxville, TN for an incredibly DUMB stunt I pulled on the interstate when I was in my early 20s. Anyway, with regards to the encounter I described earlier, I was heading NORTHBOUND on Interstate 25 in Colorado Springs, CO when my NEW (less than 3 months old) 8500x50 started to brap about every 20 seconds or so to Ka band. Furthermore, I was approximately (ESTIMATED 1/2 mile away when I started receiving the intermittent braps) from my detector. Indeed, I started receiving the alert (first brap) at almost the exact moment that I was merging onto I-25 northbound and the trooper was (estimated) 1/2 mile away when I started receiving the (20 secs apart) alerts. To cut to the chase (at least during this exact encounter) even if I had blown by the guy at 80-85 mph he couldn't had turned around on me due to the metal guardrails on that portion of the interstate in Colorado Springs AND due to the fact that there ARE NOT emergency vehicle turnaround lanes in THAT SPECIFIC part of I-25 in South Colorado Springs. I apologize in not being more clear when I initially started this thread though.;)

Re: Escort Radar Detectors
9500IX is alright, wish the ramp up was better and it definitely needs QT detection in the near future.
9500CI is great but too expensive. I want a radar detector, and the best one out there from what I've seen for the price is the V1. It has almost equal range as the 9500CI (CI has a little bit of an upper hand) and it can detect all QT/IO really well. Sure, that means you are going to get a lot of falses, but that's because it is such a powerful detector.
You can't get QT detection without a lot of falses, but IMO its worth the extra falses if it alerts you to that QT sitting up ahead. And the arrows really help you distinguish what is a real threat or not.
Owned the 9500ix all summer, the 8500 before that, have always been a loyal escort fan up until the redline fiasco. Fortunately I will be switching over to V1 soon enough as I have heard/seen several QT instances this year nearby.

Those two videos show the 9500ci's greatest strength, its incredible sensitivity and the 9500ci's greatest weakness, its lack of responsiveness.

There is truth to what others are stating here when it comes to very short trigger pulls with the escort not detecting it. But to say quick trigger(QT) or very short trigger pulls is used predominantly in the US is overrated. Even a certified radar instructor will tell you that QT method is not the proper way to issue citations. Of course there will be some officers who will go outside of the box to catch speeders. Chances of getting hit by QT will be slim in most states. I own a X50 and very satisfied with it. Never got a ticket using it BTW for a number of years.

There was no alert on my X50. If I was psychic then no ticket would have been issued or no need for an rd. In any event they qt where I live which is a fact. I currently am using the ix.
Re: Escort Radar Detectors
Here's my perspective:
V1 - Better at QT; better with IO, better round bends than ix but not ci (my perspective)
9500ix - Better at red light and fixed speed cameras like redflex, more noticeable alert when cop is hiding with K band in an area with a known K band false (if on slightly different frequency), generally conditions heightened response to alerts given fewer falses, 9500ci also has better range in some bands. Its obvious that you can make a case for the V1 being better than a 9500, but many on this forum have made the case for why the 9500 is better than the V1.
Neither is a perfect product, V1 is clearly the most responsive product and if you are good at interpreting lots of alerts coming in and knowing when to slow down and when to ignore it, then V1 is great. If you aren't then you may find the V1 = drive slowly all the time because you have no idea if the alert is real or false.
Of course using the 9500 to do some of the filtering for you has its own risks - well documented in this forum. From my point of view, I really like the GPS filtering capability, and the red light features. I think I am far less likely to get a red light ticket with my 9500ci. The red light ticket was one of the reasons I gave up on the V1. I have never recieved a QT ticket in my life, so that for me is a lesser concern. The GPS filtering also heightens my response to alerts, and because it blocks out only slices and not the entire band, it works quite well (not delusional here - I know there is a risk of false negatives but I haven't had a real alert blocked out yet).
Plus with all these things, you have to be super vigilant. The best detector is your eyes, and knowing my 9500ci has a gap against QT makes me vigilant. With the V1 I was also vigilant but felt I had to concentrate on too many things to be effective. That's just me, but I know a lot of 9500 loyalists feel the same way.

Great post I think that it really objectively explains the difference.
