    Default X50 speaker gone bad

    Hey All,

Just wondering if any has ever replaced the speaker in an X50. My just makes a quiet metallic tinking sound now. It did it every now and then for awhile, but now it just "tinks" all the time. It's ok in my SUV as long as I don't have the stereo playing, but in my roadster with the top down, I can't hear it at all now.

If no one has fixed it themselves, has anyone had Escort repair it? If so, how much was it?

Thumbs up Re: X50 speaker gone bad

To update this (if anyone cares), I sent my X50 to Escort on Thursday last week. It got there on Friday. They fixed it and shipped it back on Monday and I got it Tuesday (yesterday). It cost me $79.95 plus $11 shipping. But the cool part is that they sent me what appears to be a new or refurbed X50. It is definitely not the same device. My casing was scratched and looked old. The "repaired" device is flawless. The report said they installed a new antenna and speaker and updated the firmware, but it seems to me they did this by just giving me a newer device. All of which is very cool of them. It also came with a new Smart Cord and windshield mount with extra suction cups. Needless to say, I'm impressed with Escort's repair service.

I can tell you that we certainly care what you think about the service you received. Thank you for posting your experience with our service department.

It is normal procedure for worn cases and lenses to be replaced when your detector is in for service. Unless replaced, the internal components are still the same as what you sent in.

Escort Radar customer service is available from 8am-6pm Eastern Time Mon-Fri at 1-800-543-1608

Ah. I wondered if that were the case (no pun intended). Nice having a new looking detector then.
