Just got my Passport 8500 X50

I just picked up a slightly used passport 8500 on craigslist. I've had it for 2 days and I absolutely love it. I live in upstate New York and I'm looking for some tips on what mode and settings I should use to optimize the use of my detector. Thanks in advanced!
