I personally will need to look at 'independent' testing done by unbiased folks before I will consider buying it. Someone who tests a product that is also a major part of their website sales has to be somewhat biased, imo. Maybe I am wrong.

Nope, I believe that is a very wise decision myself.

Avoid the Hype and wait for clear results.

It's worth it, it lives up to the claims, it is the de facto detector to be now. Yes, I physically have one & love it. Yes I love Escort products, but I am also a realist & if it sucks...it sucks & I don't care who makes it. The Max is hands down the best detector I've ever even heard of much less used. NO I do not work for Escort, I do not know anyone that works at Escort & I have no financial interest in anything Escort or even radar detectors for that matter.

Those that chose to wait, I can totally understand as well as completely respect that choice, especially in today's world where almost $600 is a LOT of money. However if you decided to buy right now, you wouldn't get it until the end of August or early September because the Pre-Orders were huge, over 2,000 I believe. I know 1,500 of them were ordered after the "official" launch on June 10th & by the 11th they had hit 1,500 orders. The thing about Escort is they have the 30 day test drive, so if you got it & didn't like it or it didn't live up to it's claims, you can return in for a full refund.
