Thread: hello!

    Default hello!

Hey all. I was trying to help another member but guess I have to post here first. I currently own an Escort Passport, two Escort Smart Radars (one on the bike), and 9500ix (which I'll be selling). My main issue right now is I have a BMW Z3 and can't figure out if I have an athermic windshield blocking radar. I'm getting just way fewer alerts since I got this car, coming over from a Saleen Mustang, 2003.

Welcome. Find you a door opener K band and stick the RD outside then inside at the max detection range and see if the glass has an effect......

Thanks, now that I remembered put the coiled cord in the car I finally got a chance to do this yesterday. I spent quite a while on this. Even holding it still the signal would waver a bit, but from what I can tell there wasn't much difference between through the windshield and out the window. Since my understanding is these athermic windshields almost completely block the signal I think I'm all set!

Depending on where you put it behind the windshield can have an effect on attenuation. Generally, glass is not an issue.
